total convert w/ props to the Polk product and forum guys and gals

After the H/T craze died down a bit and I shifted to 2-chl I learned so much here, more than any other forum. I was a voyeur for quite some time not owning a Polk product. Knowing what to look for I stumbled upon my stock 2Bs and got unanimously shot down with me saying mods are NOT needed in some 30 y/o speakers. I was so wrong and fully admit my gross nearsightedness. Yes I was argumentative to a fault until some level heads like Tony straightened me out and proof is in the sound of my fully modded '87 2Bs. I have learned so much and the level of expertise here is still a revelation. I've received actual pieces of gear, parts, plans and part numbers w/ instructions to further my 1st hand work from members w/o hesitation and wanting nothing in return. I did pass things forward, it was the right thing to do to reciprocate. That just felt good.
I know this is not the DR. Phil show but I have no other way to say thanks but to ,well say thank you for all the help along the way. Oh, I'm not going anywhere, just trying to convey how much you dudes are appreciated by me and ready to absorb more knowledge by the conversation learned here. It makes me laugh at some of argumentative responses and not acting on proof positive tested results.
Thanks, keep those critiques coming, I've grown a somewhat thicker skin... Lew

It is gratifying how great these old speakers sound when properly modded. Glad you're enjoying them.

Ditto that, leftwinger, although I can't say that I put up much of an argument about mods and tweaks that were suggested here.

My experience was a bit different, however; when I bought Perreaux mono blocks to drive my vintage SRS1.2s, I had to do something about the non-commonground issue I faced. The Dreadnought solution I found on this Forum was my "salvation" -- or, "solution."

From that very favorable first experience, plunging head-long down the rabbit hole was easy! :)

The folks on this Forum are both knowledgeable and generous.

Well said there Lew! There truly are a great many helpful, knowledgeable, and professional CP members here, who are kind enough to help all who are wanting to get the most out of their Polk speakers.
  • This is the only audio forum I keep coming back to just for the reason left-winger stated. Great info generously shared by people with a passion for their music. Thanks again for helping all of us "old newbys" get the most from our systems.
