Dark Side of the Moon is pretty mind bending after hearing it six ways to Sunday cubed, it is a thing of beauty. Can anyone explain PCM and DSD to a simpleton? Also is there any other must have SACD, I doubt I would buy another but maybe there is some stuff on HDtracks that I would buy because physical media is so last week.

Are you listening to the Dark Side in surround? I would recommend Wish You Were Here on SACD. Its quite a bit more expensive though. Elton John's hybrids are inexpensive and very well done in my opinion.
I think of PCM, otherwise known as LPCM, as the basic language of a digital audio signal.
DSD is a completely different type of language that I believe has a depth of only 1 bit and sampling frequency measured in MHz as opposed to KHz.

is one better than the other? I will look for those recordings thanks

Oh yeah Darkside in surround

I am in the camp that believes the difference is negligible especially with pcm @ 24bit/192kHz vs DSD.
I think that a well mastered recording as well as good components will yield more measurable difference than format.
I really enjoy Dire Straits Brothers In Arms on SACD too. Fairly cheap.KEF Q50 mains, M&K center, Boston Acoustics surround, Marantz SR6007 pre, Emotiva UPA-700, Pioneer DV-46AV, Samsung BD-j7500, Sunfire HRS12 subwoofer -
Wish You Were Here is pretty good in 5.1 too.

+1 BIA. For awhile Knopfler's Shangri-La was really cheap, less than $5 IIRC, although apparently not anymore. Keep your eyes peeled for deals when they come around. Norah Jones Come Away With Me is usually pretty cheap SACD on used market and well worth it IMHO.

A well recorded and mastered SACD or DVD Audio is pure magic - nothing comes close, IMHO. In SACD, try Patricia Barber - Cafe Blue, Steely Dan - Gaucho, The Doobie Brothers - Takin' It To the Streets. In DVD Audio (The superior format, I think), try Fleetwood Mac - Rumors, Clapton & BB King - Ridin' With the King, and Donald Fagen - Nightfly."Conservative Libertarians love the country, progressive leftists love the government." - Andrew Wilkow

I'll second Elton John esp Madman Across The Water. For a live recording Allman Bros at Filmore East is pretty good too.Yep, my name really is Bob.
Parasound HCA1500A(indoor sound) and HCA1000(outdoor sound), Dynaco PAS4, Denon DP1200 w/Shure V15 Type V and Jico SAS stylus, Marantz UD7007, Polk L600, Rythmik L12 sub. -
The yellow jackets altered state well worth eight bucks at Amazon

Ridin' with the King is an EXCELLENT CD, I should check out the DVDA of it.
I'm just sayin' Mariah Carry's 'One's' album on SACD is pretty freakin' good. I'm not even a fan, but that woman had a range on her.
