Update of Vintage Speaker Crossovers by Paul McGowan

Not Polk but I think SDA owners might enjoy this article. Be sure to watch the referenced "LAST" video in the post. It makes me appreciate my SDA's more and the work I've read about from westmassguy and VR3.

I'm feeling kind of harsh at the moment, I'll wait for other comments to see if I'm off-base.

"Paul's Post" on the PS Audio Forum [http://www.psaudio.com/pauls-posts/new-lease-on-music/], which discusses this upgrading of his vintage Infinity speakers sparks a short, but interesting debate about whether contemporary technology makes for better speakers than anything that can be done by upgrading vintage crossovers. As one poster puts it, "Anything you can do, I can do better. I can do anything better than you" -- referring to contemporary active crossovers v. vintage passives.

Maybe so, but right now I'm listening to my upgraded, modified vintage SDA SRS1.2TLs, and I remain to be convinced, given the auditioning I have done of contemporary speakers.
Family Room, Innuos Statement streamer (Roon Core) with Morrow Audio USB cable to McIntosh MC 2700 pre with DC2 Digital Audio Module; AQ Sky XLRs to CAT 600.2 dualmono amp, Morrow Elite Speaker Cables to NOLA Baby Grand Reference Gold 3 speakers. Power source for all components: Silver Circle Audio Pure Power One with dedicated 20 amp circuit to main panel.

Exercise Room, Innuos Streamer via Cat 6 cable connection to PS Audio PerfectWave MkII DAC w/Bridge II, AQ King Cobra RCAs to Perreaux PMF3150 amp (fully restored and upgraded by Jeffrey Jackson, Precision Audio Labs), Supra Rondo 4x2.5 Speaker Cables to SDA 1Cs (Vr3 Mods Xovers and other mods.), Dreadnaught with Supra Rondo 4x2.5 interconnect cables by Vr3 Mods. Power for each component from dedicated 20 amp circuit to main panel, except Innuos Statement powered from Silver Circle Audio Pure Power One.

I take it your more than satisfied with VR3's work? B)
