Now that I just finished spending the last 3 years renovating our first home, I had the itch to get back into vinyl. I'm older, a little wiser (not much), and have a little money to play with from a side business. I didn't want to go overboard, but here's what i scraped together and what i paid:
McIntosh MA 5100 Integrated - Came with original cabinet, shipping bag, etc. Bought from original owner - $450
McIntosh MR-74 Tuner - Came with original cabinet, shipping bag, etc., Bought from original owner - $300
Marantz 6100 Turntable - Totally upgraded, RCA's, ground wire, Herbie's mat, AT cartridge, yadda yadda - $200 - Craigslist
B&W 600 Speakers - $5 - Yard Sale
Canare Bi-Wire Cables - $50 - eBay
Standoffs for speaker cables for screw down terminals - $5 - eBay
Rack - had it
$1010 it cost me to put this together and I couldn't be happier.
Now I need some quality vinyl.

Looks really nice.. good luck with the LP's. Always good to see someone that gets back into it. Have fun.

Thanks....it's a start. Eventually I'll do something about the speakers, but actually they sound pretty damn good. Going to build a better rack than a bureau soon as well.

Welcome back.
Now - start shopping for vinyl!
And save up for a good RCM.
Yesterday I went to a used record store up in Encinitas and did some bargain shopping and came home with 5 used lps (2 of which were 99 cents each).
They all cleaned up nicely and sound vg!

Yep, I'll get a good cleaner eventually. I have a good method that works well for me, but a machine will be nice.
Regarding the speakers.....for $5 how could I go wrong? -

Right. Just kidding.
+1 on the RCM
Get a good one if you do. Wished I had done so earlier.. -
This weekend I plan to build a proper rack for all the equipment and something that will hold some vinyl.
