I don't want to turn off my notifications, but there are some posts/topics I no longer want to follow.

Here's the response from Vanilla:
"It seems "Jasper67's" notification
preferences are set to receive emails whenever someone posts in a
discussion he's started or a discussion in which he's participated. As
such, there's no way to stop those emails on a per-discussion basis. What
we've seen as the best way to handle this going forward is:
- turn off notifications for own discussions and participated discussions
- turn on notifications for bookmarked discussions
- bookmark the discussions for which you'd like to receive notifications
That way, if you tire of receiving those notifications, you can simply
unbookmark the discussion.
Hope that helps!"

Click on the little sprocket icon up to the right under your name and edit your email notifications.

I checked that out but it looks like that is a global change for the forum. I just don't want to be notified about a particular post.

Try "unhighlighting" the star next to the thread title.

...THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. What a blessing.
My thanks also to Jasper67, I was getting ready to ask the same question.

the star is not highlighted on the post I would like to un-follow. Any other suggestions?

where are you getting the notifications?

via email, sorry for the delay in responding. I don't want to turn off all my email notifications, just from specific posts.

Each thread at the top has a little star icon. If its filled in and yellow it means you would get a email notification for that thread.
Click on it again (so its not filled in anymore) will remove it from your subscriptions and you wont get notified if someone posts on that thread.

while in theory you are correct, but that doesn't work, at least not for me. The star is grey and I can flip it to yellow and then back to grey and I still get emails.

Hello,
I'll check on that for you.

Check your notification preferences and see if something there might be causing it...
While logged into the forum, copy and paste this URL in the address bar to go to where your notification preferences are
http://forum.polkaudio.com/profile/preferences/Jasper67
If that doesnt work click on your name -> edit profile -> notification preferences
There is one to notify you if someone comments on a thread you posted in. Mine is turned off. There are still come bugs in the system. I get some notifications that were not triggered by me, occasionally, and then they stop coming with no action on my part!Currently orbiting Bowie's Blackstar.!

Thanks for all the advice, I have changed my preferences and I'll let you all know what happens. In a nutshell, I posted in the SDA deals post, and now that I have my own, I don't need to know about all of these deals that people find. Same thing for the SDA playlist post, I would rather just check out what people recommend vs. getting an email every time someone posts. Make sense?
-
Not really. THAT THREAD (SDA Deals) was the one that I wanted to not receive e-mails for; and just clicking the star fixed it for me.
I wonder why that doesn't work for you.
