One thing I like is how Steely Dan continues to support both formats. I believe Gaucho is their second disc released on both formats.
-
I wonder if the Britney Spears disc will be true surround sound. Might be interesting!!!Rocky Bennett

I noticed Steely Dan is releasing their first 5 albums on SACD in June. Is there any word if they'll be released on dvd-audio also?
Can't wait to hear the Royal Scam and Aja in surround!

'cause all the people who grew up listening to REM are now in thier late 20's to early 40's and have the money to go out and buy a decent DVD player and "transfer" all of thier albums from CD to DVD. Besides that, almost all of REM's albums reached the Top 40 and stayed there for a good long time. The publishing companies would be stupid not to re-release all these albums in the first few runs of DVD-A discs they press. They have the highest sale potential. Considering the fact that the DVD duplication equipment is considerably more expensive then CD duplication equipment, they will want to recover the cost in DVD-A sales as soon as possible so that they can start churning out discs at a leisurly pace and still turn a high profit.Expert Moron Extraordinaire
You're just jealous 'cause the voices don't talk to you! -
Mike, I am with you, I have GAUCHO right now on SACD and the 5.1 mix really kicks some serious butt. There is quite a mystery regarding the multi channel mix of AJA, since it has been reported for years that the original multi-channel tapes of BLACK COW have been missing. But the June release of the rest of Steely Dan's catalog on SACD is really the most awaited news for me right now, (except the Allman Brothers catalog in 5.1 SACD in May).Rocky Bennett

Thanks for that list. I will have to pick up David Crosby's "If I Could Only Remember My Name." I have "Tommy," on SACD, but I'm sure I'll feel compelled to pick it up in DVD-A also. The early Steely Dan records are a must, too.

Awesome! I didn't know about this. -
Excellent, some good info. I'll have to pick up Mahler's Symphony no. 1 ("Titan" - just a wickedly powerful piece of music) and some Steely Dan. I see a few artists/labels are supporting both formats...that Police disc is already out of SACD as is Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. Probably others too.system 1:

I don't think Goodbye yellow brick road is out on dvd audio yet.
Has anyone listened to both a sacd and dvd audio of the
same cd yet? How do they compare for sound quality?
