Marantz or Yamaha SACD Player?

As much as I love my Oppo 105D I want to leave it in my Home Theatre Rig. I want a SACD player in my 2 channel rig I see Accessories 4 less is currently out of the Marantz SA 8005 at the price they sell them for I probably should wait until they get more in. I left them my contact info so they will get hold of me when they get more refurbished ones in stock.

I came across this Yamaha and wonder how these would compare, to the SA 8005, and I wonder if these should even be a consideration over the Marantz. I have read some positive reviews on this particular Yamaha do any of you have any opinions on this particular model, or should I just keep lusting over the Marantz?

    I think after this purchase and possibly a tube pre, along with the SDA's I just got its time to just sit back and listen to tunes and enjoy movies, and be happy with what I have, that being said I do want a SACD player and will worry about trying a tube pre later down the road. I guess there is a way out of the Rabbit Hole and 3/4s of the way there is a good place to be right?

    If the 8005 is an improvement over the 8004 it will be worth the wait.

    I wouldn't say that. My understanding is that the CD-S1000 isn't all that, but the CD-S2100 is pretty darn good (similar to the Marantz) and the CD-S3000 is top notch. From the pics I've seen and owners comments, the build quality of the 2100 and 3000 is extremely good. I'd love to get my ears on either.

    Yeah I guess I will wait not sure if I want a refurbished when a new in box is only a few hundred more would any of you feel comfortable with a refurb 8005?

    Good luck with the SACD player search. How about another Oppo? Maybe a "lower" unit one since you wouldn't need all the bells and whistles of the 105, nor the "D" enhancement?

    I will be purchasing a SA 8005 from Audio Thesis , thanks to the recommendation of a fellow member, so the search is over, and so is my audio quest this will be my last purchase I'm done and exiting said rabbit hole. Terry all of its your fault anyways, but being done with the chase will be great I'm where I want to be. Head on down south and pay us a visit, Hannelore makes a mean mac & chess bake, you know your welcome anytime!

    The one thing, I was reading on some of the reviews on this Marantz, is that there is no open close button for the disc tray on the remote, but a power on off button for the PM 8005 the matching amp. It's not a deal breaker for me, but I wonder why that is not on the remote?

    The ones you are looking at, do they need to have usb for a dac or are you looking strictly for cd / sacd?

    The Marantz and my Oppo 105D both come with a USB Dac the Oppo does a fine job and I could never part with it, but I wanted A SACD player for 2 channel and the Marantz is something I have been wanting for quite some time. I will do a shoot out between the two and how they sound with SACDS and CDS.

    I will report back when that happens but from what I have read the Marantz will need some hours on it before it performs it's best so the shootout won't happen right away but can't wait for the shootout and outcome.

    I did that shootout. Oppo 105 vs. Marantz SA8004. For strictly 2-channel audio, for me the Marantz was a clear winner.
    Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

    Well if you guys are right then I'm in for a big suprise when the 8005 shows up as I listened to my Tubular Bells SACD last night on the Oppo and was loving it. Neil how long did the comparison last, and what material were you listening to?

    Thanks for the link Neil, how forgetful I am this is the very thread that made me decide yeah I'm getting a Marantz in the near future. I Have that Mark Knopfler on SACD, and will use it in my comparisons, I just wonder how many hours I should give the Marantz before the comparisons begin. Oh yeah the other titles I have on CD.

    my vote is for Marantz...I changed my primary equipment to Marantz and the difference was incredible.
