I'm looking at these speakers w/ the stands. Finally the guy calls and says there is no brand name they were made for him at a place called J S Audio and that place does not exist anymore. He claims the surrounds might be going which could be in my favor. Also note those bigger Mahogany speakers to the left and right. Same story built for him by this place. If I could get either set for $40 is it worth the trip which is about half an hour each way. Also he does not have them hooked up, but I have my mini Realistic amp and cdp so I could hear them at work. Worth a listen ??

I'm no expert but for $40.00 they might sound great or crappy, overall they don't look bad. I always take an amp, cdp and a small set of speakers/wire. I have a plastic toke I got at the walmart that holds it all nicely, is easy to carry. Doing this has helped me out numerous times, especially when the seller says no on hooking something up to test for some reason or starts acting nervous when I say "I got the equipment" to check it out.

I got the message. So far he had nothing to hook them up and like I said I'm ready if he is. Really, I would taking a foolish trip not to hear speakers only to find out they are totally blown or just lousy. Now I think it's off for today but I do have him hooked because I asked him if he had any bites on the ad and he said yes but all shied away when there was no brand name or model number to be found anywhere. I have all my gear ready to go.

I do hope if it works out.

I sort of had a similar experience although I did have make and model numbers. Was hesitant to go but did. Ended up with a RTR that I absolutely love.

Lew, just curious pal....do you have 40 bucks burning a hole in your pocket ? I mean...are you not happy with the speaks you have ? Why not save the 40, add to it over time and make upgrades to the system that will have a more meaningful effect ?

I totally agree with Skip and Tony. Try something that will be beneficial to your system and quit taking back/side steps. Just my dumbass opinion.
