Have you tried lifting the ground wire on the power cable? Sounds like a ground loop.

Or if you have cable TV, try disconnecting it where it enters the house.

I have FIOS TV but how it's interfere with the Sub when it's plugged in to different Outlet? And lifting ground wire! Is that mean using three prong to two prong Adapter? If the answer is yes then yes I have tried that already.....It humms loud when Audio in or LFE in connected even it's not connected to AVR or any source...

Different outlets can actually cause the problem, due to different ground potentials. Cable TV connections can cause issues if not properly grounded for the same reason.

Are you saying it hums with the sub cable plugged in but disconnected at the other end? That would be odd, and you already tried a different cable.

Was it laying on the carpet or did you put your finger over the other end ? If so, that's going to be a normal response.

First, use a decent sub cable, if your using a 10 buck monoprice cable or comparable, it's more than likely the cable.

Second, ground loops are always hard to trace down, but since the sub is plugged into the receiver, try putting the cheater plug, the adapter that goes from 3 prongs to 2, on the receivers power cord and see if that helps some.

That doesn't sound right. I've never heard of them telling a customer to open up the sub. They typically request it be set back so that their techs can troubleshoot and repair it. Something doesn't mesh here.

I feel your pain. My own sub took a turn for the worse just after I sparked the power supply of an XBOX ONE while plugging it in last night-the XBOX (for my daughter) is fine. Also way out of warranty, but not as good as your SVS. Now, although the sub works, it has a low grade electrical hiss coming out of it that is definitely NOT a ground loop as I've moved it around and it also does not sound like it's a 60 Hz hum. Looks like yours truly is going to have to pull off the plate amp and look inside. I'm sure I'll have very little knowledge of what it could be. But I did notice that when I rotate the loudness control on the back of the sub all the way to the left and all the way to the right the noise increases or decreases in pitch at 0 and full volume with NO receiver or cable attached to it. lol

    Good luck!
