My top 10 axmen w/ own style

1..Jimi Hendrix--The innovator,started it all w/ controlled feedback and was the master of shitck. Also a natural lefty who chose to turn a righty Strat up side down and re strung it, unlike Albert King and Doylle Bramhall 2nd, who plays lefty w/ strings upside down.
2.Carlos Santanna--That Latino rhythmic style coupled w/ rock to this day has not been duplicated w/ only Los Lobos as a very far 2nd.
3.John Fogerty--Never heard of a chuggling sound before but there it is and as distinctive as ever.
4.Mark Knopfler--His work w/ Dire Straits, solo, and Emmylou Harris sets him apart from most all other British guitarists.
5.Jerry Garcia--When healthy and on there was none better at what he did. From bluegrass, to old Motown to the jamming w/the Dead probably the best improvisational guy out there.
6.Jorma Kaukonen--The best double picker out there still to this day both electric and acoustic.
7.Robby Krieger-- Did just enough to have his own style and never over shadow his very famous lead singer.
8.Stevie Ray Vaughn-- Brought blues back to the forefront. His Texas swing style imitated by many (Kenny Wayne Sheppard,Jonny Lang to name 2) Did he have a Hendrix influence yeah, and did a mini Hendrix set in every show I saw but when it came back around for pure Texas blues non better.
9.David Gilmore-- If not one of the most fluent guitarist living today. Also instantly recognizable both w/ Floyd and his solo work.
10. Dave Mason-- Great song writer, also very fluent on both Telecaster or acoustic 12 string. In his prime he always delivered.
Now of course this is again very subjective but as you see each and every one of my picks have/had their own distinctive style. Your picks may differ totally and that's fine. Here it's not whether you liked the guy or not just how easy it is to know who the player is.
2 Honorable mentions goes to Robin Trower in Procal Harum before he also became Hendrixsied and one of my all time favs Alvin Lee....
