I have some tubes to put into my Yaqin amp i bought as i waited for unit to arrive. I listened to stock since (3months or so) i see a Fluke 77 for sale locally & wondered if that would be a decent meter to use to adjust the new tubes when i change them out. Any feedback would be appreciated TIA

Fluke is probably the leading VOM around. They've been the leader now for several decades and have many others copying their easy and safe use.

They've been made long enough that they have several generations of meters. I had a Fluke 77 as long ago as maybe 25 years so you really need to look for marked indications of what "series" or generation it is.

In the pre digital meter days, the Simpson 260 was the standard if there was such a thing. The Fluke has been the one that is the "known" now for a long time. Doesn't make it perfect, but it is good.

A simple DC bias measurement could be done by many meters. But the Fluke is going to be a respected number when you report that's the used metering.

Like anything used, check it out. Take a battery, a resistor and hope to have access to an AC outlet...and you've got much if it's functions checked pretty quickly. I'd not bother if it's leads aren't in good condition and it doesn't look like it's in decent condition overall. Most if not all use a 9v battery internally and a #2 Phillips will open it and allow a change, so don't let that be an excuse for not knowing if it works if you've got those at hand too. A nice option that's worth a few bucks more is the flip out stand case that allows easy standup use.

That’s why I don’t, I bought all of my current gear based on technical parameters alone, such as specs and measurements."

Thanks I will be checking it out Wed. It is a older Fluke & it looks very clean & the gentleman who has it said he bought it new & had upgraded to a newer better model. I will be bringing battery & tools are in truck. It will be at his house. So testing shouldnt be a issue. 40.00 seems reasonable i think
