Was going thru the attic and found this.

I "think" it's a Harmony Silhoute H-19. Has an Jan 10 1966 date.
MFG by Rowe Inc.

I know nothing about guitars anymore. Worth keeping?

Thanks all.rnhiqthuiuce.jpg

I was looking for an empty speaker box up in the attic. I forgot I had this thing and got it out, cleaned it a bit. Decided to ask here and put up some pictures for those here way more smarter than I am.

I need to string it and play a few chords, can't hit many decent chords anymore as ole "artie" seems to setting into the old fingers...

IMO those old 60's guitars are all worth keeping! They're very collectible these days, as it seems most things are. String that baby up and bang on it a bit, I have a couple just for that purpose, I haven't played seriously in years but it's nice to have around when you want one!

Looks like it could be worth a few hundred dollars. It is an H19. Depending on how long it has been sitting idle you may want to take it to a guitar tech to get it checked out before using it so nothing gets cracked when tension is reapplied to it. Looks like it is in great shape though.

Thanks Emlyn, I thought it was an H19. I just wasn't 100% sure.

Thanks MrBuhl, I guess I will keep it. Who knows maybe someday when my Daughter gets all my stuff, it might be worth a few bucks.

Neat story about the girl getting the autograph. Mr. g

It's really cool that it has the custom case with it (?) , might add to the value. The guitar looks like it got played quite a bit. ;)

I did finally find a few listed for sale on line, they appeared to have some bumps and bruises on them. This one certainly is not mint by any means.
It did get played many years ago when I was younger and "in my mind" going to be the next legendary guitar player :D

A Harmony guitar site I found says it has Dual DeArmond Mustache pickups in it and once I started to really look at it, it does have mustache shaped engraving on the pickups.
  • Yep hold onto it, old guitars go up in value pretty well. even if its not worth as much now that thing will keep on going up in value the older it gets.

I once thought about buying something like Gibson Les Paul every year and leaving it in its case and packing it away. Eventually those guitars would be worth a lot.

It's value is in its vintage look alone. Quality wise there is not much there. Remember, they made crappy guitars back then just as they do now.

I figured that, just going to put it back in the attic, wait another 49 years and let my daughter deal with it.... :D

    These fetch $3-600 on EBay
    - Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

$3-600. So much for using it for a sale/trade/down payment for a Marantz. Or that Monastry modification, which I've heard is perfect..

Yep, back into the attic she goes.... :)
