SDA Interconnect

I have some extra banana plugs and was going to make an interconnect and ditch the RCA cable with broken off tabs. I was going to search but I couldn't figure out how on the new software. Anywho, question is what gage wire? I have some 16 gage speaker wire laying around is that decent or should I use something else??

What is the OEM wire gauge for the SDA cable? I'm thinking 16 or 18 gauge. Maybe it varies with year or with speaker model.

The original on my SDA1C's was 16 gauge, and 20' long. I used 12 gauge when I replaced it, because that's what I had on hand.

Just replace the SDA connector with a standard binding post.

For the 3.1TL's, replace the pin/blade socket with a Neutrik socket and use Neutrik connectors for your new cable, which should be the same type/brand cable you use for your speakers, which only makes sense if you think about it.

I listened to F1nut and westmassguy and used the Neutrik connectors. Cost effective and great connectors.

Hey guys new to the forum! This modification of changing to a binding post can be done with Sda CRS+ and SDA 2 as well?

It can be done to any SDA, you just need to know how to wire it all up. There are schematics posted here for most of them.

Edit: better than a binding post are the SpeakOn connectors.

This thread looks like a few months old but if another opinion is needed for the cable conversion here's mine. I tried doing it myself and butchered the terminal cup and was not getting the desired effect. I gathered all the parts, sent them out to Dave and he gave me new cups, binders, w/ the Neutrik/Speak-On connectors. Now ALL speakers are reacting as they should w/ the added fact my rack changed I'm now hearing things I should of years ago. Price we don't talk about here but to say it was worth it would be a gross understatement. I don't think a single banana plug is notsuch a terrible idea but the locking action of the Neutrik is better. I also used 12gu spkr cable, the same I ran to the 2Bs. I think all the parts w/o the cable were less than the shipping from PE.

One of the reasons we suggest the speakon connection is it keeps someone else from sticking a speaker cable in the wrong binding post and letting the magic smoke out.....
