Old SDA vs. New LSi

Are there any SDA owners who have auditioned any of the new LSi speakers? I am interested in knowing how they compare to the SDA's in terms of overall definition, bass, and imaging.

Is Polk really coming back to the "high definition" enthusiast, or is it just more marketing hype? ;)

I've not gotten to audition the new LSi series yet (can't find them around here). I am really anxious to...

In my personal opinion, I think Polk kind of lost my enthusiasm when the whole Circuit City thing happened... I don't think sound quality suffered, but people don't really equate Polk with high-end anymore.

Despite the fact that the RT25i bookshelf was a Stereophile product of the year for 2001, people just don't see the brand as high-end anymore.

There's a specialty shop here that sells Polk and Dunlavy. They have the RT25i's connected to a incredibly high-priced Conrad-Johnson amp and $8,000 Marantz CD player. The Polks sounded absolutely breathtaking.

However, if you go to Circuit City and listen to the RT25i... you'll hear it on some overly-harsh JVC receiver with the trebel and bass cranked all the way up.

It's best to buy Polks from your local specialty store. They will price the same as Circuit City and you'll have the satisfaction of knowing you supported a local dealer and Polk directly.

The LSi series speaker sounds amazing. I personally have not ever listened to the SDA line, but I can tell you that what pours out of the LSi speaker is honey (meaning sweet and delectable, not thick and gooey). Once you get a chance to listen to these, I think you will change your opinion about Polk being equated with High end. The imaging is crystal and the balance is incredible...oh yeah baby gives me tingles just thinking about them. My personal favorites are the LSi9's and the LSi15's (essentially a 9 with a passive sub). The LSi25's are sweet as well, but I am a fan of a separate powered sub (chuck in a PSW650 with the 9's for my flavor).

I hope you get a chance to hear these soon, I hate seeing a fan being held back.

    Good Luck,
