Anybody doing anything about a Polkfest this year?

Or should we just consider that a dead concept and move on?

I've got a big event coming up in July at my place, but it won't really be a Polk deal.
Say what, and I haven't been notified...pfft

I can hear it now....a quiet room except for all folks setting around munching on vanilla wafers and the clicking on phones posting..."like!"

A so called science type proudly says... "I do realize that I would fool myself all the time, about listening conclusions and many other observations, if I did listen before buying. That’s why I don’t, I bought all of my current gear based on technical parameters alone, such as specs and measurements."
More amazing Internet Science Pink Panther wisdom..."My DAC has since been upgraded from Mark Levinson to Topping." -

I don't know John, a lot of the crazy mofos that supported Polkfest are no longer active and there doesn't seem to be much interest these days from current members. Were you thinking of hosting again?

Dead issue John. Unless you want to bust your hump in order to please another five or six people this year. Last year's attendance spoke loudly.

I could do something again but I doubt it would be on the level of a Polkfest again unless Polk Audio wanted to send someone again.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

Five or six people? Sad. Our meet at my place in January drew around 30 people. What's going on up north?
Hard to believe. I know there are several times that number of Polkies two hours or LESS driving distance from Jstas'! Last year's fest, although, low in number, looked first class, I'm still kicking myself about missing! But the daughter is in college next fall, and scheduling for the coming year looks MUCH better.

Youse guyses should rent a bus and c'mon up to New Hampsha. I'll even hook up some Polk stuff if you do.
Bonus points if you drag John Dorsey along with you.
Plenty of room for camping 'neath the stars (and we've even got stars) -- maybe we'd even let you use a bathroom. Maybe.

I took that on 24 July last year; the glow to the south is the big city :-P of Claremont, NH.
According to the metadata :- )Nikon D5000
Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 lens

Flash (off, did not fire) -d'oh -
My son belittles me because I don't use the fastest lens I own for low-light shooting... but I really, really like that ultra-wide angle Sigma zoom (which was, in fact, a present from the aforementioned son, so he really should quit bellyachin' about his old man's lens predilections!).

It wasn't 5 or 6 people...well, it was on Friday night. Saturday we had about a dozen and a half.
Still, for the number of people who live close by (within 3 hours) and those who said they were coming, that was a pretty pathetic turnout.
If I did it again, I wouldn't go through all that rigmarole again. It wasn't a waste 'cause the people who did show up, we had a great time. But that was a ton of work and money spent for a turnout where only like 40% of the people who said they were interested in coming came. Nothing went to waste 'cause I made sure it was properly distributed but that was rather frustrating at the rudeness of those who either expressed interest or said they were coming and then blew it off like it was nothing.
I would be glad to have a get together again. I certainly have the space now that the basement is even more done than it was. All I have to do now is furnish it, get a kegerator and put together the home theater. The space is able to be occupied now.
If Polk Audio wanted to throw in on it too, I'm fine with that but don't expect the level of outlay and work put in to it like last year. Disappointing in regards to membership response is a gross understatement. A few people, not just me, stepped up in a big way for that, including Polk Audio and it was a bit embarrassing to feel like I had to make excuses or have to stand there and say "I dunno where so and so is. They said they were coming".Expert Moron Extraordinaire
