Living room only and 2 channel stereo only? I don't want to get into another HT rig... just want something that sounds better than the tv speakers. Nice thing here is a built in dac and amps so all I do is run a toslink to it and power. very simple and straight forward.

I haven't heard those but it seems expensive. The monitor speakers I have heard are always VERY bright and have no low end.

Nearfield monitors are designed for use in recording studios where the speakers will be placed relatively close to the listener. This could be 4-6 feet, which may closer than you normally watch TV or listen to music. Finding a sweet spot for these may take a little work.

Well I decided to pull the trigger. WTH I'm thinking??? but seems to be a perfect settup for the Living room without an equipment rack. I'm not to concerned about imaging quality at this point because I have no interest in building another HT and my TV speakers are driving me ape ****. I went with the MA20D and it should be here next week sometime.

Let us know what you find, they sure look sharp!

I can't understand why TVs aren't built with better speakers and amps with what you pay for them, it wouldn't take much to make a huge improvement.

Along way from you, I am in the SW corner on the OK border, 60 miles from Colorado in an area so flat that on a clear night we can see small towns 50 miles away.

It is amazing to me how spread out everything is in this part of the country. The toughest thing to get used to out here are the damn Tornadoes... thats just some scary stuff.

    BTW, welcome to the fray.

My wife is a foul weather addict, as soon as a cloud pops upon the horizon, people from all over town are calling her to ask what she sees on the radar. 2 years ago we had the storm chasers from NOAA station here in our town of Liberal and she was in heaven talking to them on where the next line of T-storms were going to pop up.

Her retirement goal is to become a video storm chaser.

    Crazy huh,

Received the Edirols last night and quickly set them up. Light pipe from my D* receiver to the Left speaker and an audio RCA connection to the right speaker plug them in and walla no more tv speakers. I also connected a vcr up to it using the analog in stage for my daughter.

Go figure there is a world of difference between the tv speakers and these little guys but really I am impressed with their sound quality. The 24 bit dac won't decode dd, which I did not expect anyway, but the interesting aspect to these speakers(or fault) is if you running both an anolog in along with the digital in there is no preference and you can hear both sources. When it happened the wife was like WTF??? so all I did was switch the digital source from optical to coax(which is inactive) and no more cross talk.

I think that when the speakers break in over the next half a year I'll probably be so impressed I'll get rid of my entire HT settup;)

Nearfield speakers for a TV? Don't you know you're not supposed to sit that close Henry? ;)
