laser pick up on CD players

If a cd player has had it laser pickup replaced, is this a good thing or bad thing? Or does it tell u its had a ton of wear and tear in past.....

    Could be either, after all, nothing lasts forever.

    If it's an older player, it's probably a good thing. If it's a newer player, that might be a clue as to it's build quality or telling of future problems. Even still, if it's a solid player with a solid rep, I'd have no problem buying it.

    Many CD/DVD players seem to fail their lasers rather prematurely. I had to replace the one in my Denon DVD-2910 which acted up ever since I bought it used. It eventually got to the point where it would not read any redbook CD. I bought a replacement laser off ebay, installed it and now it is good as new.
