I am at my desk. I was looking for a place to set a couple pieces of garlic bread and the Heathkit amp was the only open space. I put it on a paper towel and then went to go and heat up the rest of my lunch in the microwave. I came back and had to fix a hotoline call. After that, I got my lunch out of the microwave and went to grab my bread and the garlic butter was nicely melted on the top and the bread was warm.

I used to sit it on top of my computer monitor because we aren't allowed to have toaster ovens at work. The microwave makes it all soggy and chewy so I sit it on the monitor for like 15 minutes before I eat lunch. It gets warmed up pretty good but never generated enough heat to melt the butter.

Oh, no leaks on the tube amp. The butter was only on the top of 3 inch thick pieces of bread. No crumbs either. I feel like Cliff Clavin. Like I should be cooking kabobs on my engine block.

I don't know the tube compliment on your Heath, but I've heard some power tubes in amps can reach 300 or more degrees.

Kinda like an easy-bake on roids eh?

    Cheers,

Hmmm, it has three 6EU7's and four 6GW8/ECL86 plus a couple of MONSTROUS capacitors and 3 power supplies. After being on all day, the top of the metal case gets a tad too hot to touch for longer than a brief second.

If I turn out all the lights, the tubes glow through all the vents and cracks and it looks pretty eerie. I'd take pictures but cameras are forbidden.

This is a very subjective observation and I don't think I would just go along with it without some statistical scientific evidence to back it up.
