Omni s2 question/thoughts

I've got a question regarding the S2 speakers. Once you do have them setup are the settings saved so if you lose power or unplug the speaker you won't have to go through setup again?

Also some suggestions for updates:
Browser based option. Give the ability to add a static IP address.
- Save multiple locations - give you the ability once the speaker is found to choose from the saved settings.
- EQ setup on app. Different locations have different acoustics.
- Ability to utilize the usb port on the speaker for setup with a usb to Ethernet adapter.

    Hello,
Welcome to Polk's forum. I'll forward your posting to Polk wireless guys and let you know what they say.
    Regards, Ken

Thanks Ken. Do you know of a way to do a full reset on an S2 speaker? Not just a reboot, but a full reset

Also is there somewhere where I can find the latest firmware for the s2?

Here is the response from Chet:

    "Ken,
The S2s will retain their settings if the speakers are unplugged or if they lose power.
Adding the option to add a static IP address in the APP/Browser (as well as the ability to save multiple locations) are great suggestions.
An EQ will eventually make its way into the Polk utility APP. The S2 can currently be hardwired to a customer’s home network with a USB to Ethernet adapter. The following adapter works fine:

    Thanks, Chet"

I would call them at 1-800-638-7276 for resetting and firmware information.

Thanks Ken. I already did, if that's the support number. They couldn't assist. They said that only a couple of folks have access to firmware. I just want the files emailed to me so I can try to update via the browser on the speaker to see if that resolves the issue and or reset back to factory settings and start from scratch.

I'm trying to rescue a speaker that Polk said not to bother returning after they exchanged a new one.

Btw, if you have an ip scanner program like angry ip scanner or advanced ip scanner you can get the ip address of the speaker and set it up via browser. That way also has a setting for static ip and firmware update, however, I'd need the firmware file to do so.

One last item in response to Chet's answer, the usb to Ethernet adapter thought I had was to utilize the connection for setup and then disconnect after setup was complete.

Well the firmware update worked for a little while. Settings stayed for a while and then the 2nd time I plugged the speakers in, only 1 retained it's settings. Same thing right next to my router, so I know it's not a distance issue.

Unfortunately, I've spent too much time and effort on these already. It's a wifi device. To have 3 devices not save their settings properly, one doing a contact reboot is simply wrong. I find it odd that the one speaker which came directly from polk works fine and the others, nope.

I hear you. Sound is great. Have them in my home theater. This is basic stuff though. Settings that don't save goes to the basics. At this point I'm leaning toward a qc issue. 3 speakers doing the same thing or similar? The only one that works properly came directly from them. It's a nice concept, however it's coming at my time and expense.

Folks. Today is Thursday and I haven't heard anything back since Monday. Can I have an update on my issue? It'd be nice to be able to use my speakers as they are intended.

Already have contacted them and "it's been sent to engineering" for them to look at the problem, is also the response that I've been given in email.

Public forums are a great way to get issues noticed also. Vendors don't like bad press.

You should just be able to hold down the WiFi button on the back to reset it to factory settings. You will be prompted to update the firmware once you reconnect. Did you down;road the Polk Utility app as well? It is a second app that revs firmware for the speaker specific MCU and that will improve speaker perforce as well.
