I have been checking it out from time to time also. Great music, but they don't seem to be showing any jazz! Quite a few big name artists are shown from rock, blues, pop.

There about a dozen different stages at the same time during the Fest though. Looks like a huge undertaking.

Yeah, showing the big names for TV. I thought I heard them say that they had 3 Jazz stages set up so if you were there you would have your fill.
Even the acts I haven't seen before are really good.

I just returned from the second "weekend" of Jazzfest. There are various stages and tents, somewhere around a dozen or more, set up all around the fairgrounds. There's several very large stages, a blues tent, a gospel tent, a Cajun/Zydeco stage, a world stage, a couple smaller stages that had brass bands and folk-ish or heritage music. Jazz is ubiquitous, and they try to maintain a New Orleans/ Louisiana vibe, but some complain there is not enough jazz for a festival that is named after jazz. That doesn't bother me, every time I go I see great music eight hours a day four days in a row. Some of the bigger names I saw this time were Allison Krause, Lil Ed & the Imperials, Shooter Jennings, No Doubt w/ Gwen Stefani, Chicago, Jerry Lee Lewis, Elton John, Ed Sheeran, Galactic w/ Macy Gray, along with tons of lesser well-known names. The weather was great with no rain and the crowds were pretty insane sometimes, especially for Elton John which was nuts. Not a big Elton fan so I just took in a bit from the track and moved on. Some of my buddies are there both weekend, the first weekend had a good deal of rain and it gets muddy, as it was for The Who. I'll try to post some short video clips from the Fest.

Looked like a great time for sure. Seemed like a great mix of croud.
I thought it was interesting that they stopped it every night before it got dark for fear of the drunkards - the longer it goes on, the more trouble you have.

I think part of why Jazzfest stops at 7 is also the bars and clubs all around town take over after Jazzfest, lots of musicians play in the French Quarter or elsewhere after they play at Jazzfest during the day.

Can't imagine the acts you would see just bar hopping around the city! Good times
