Help with SVS
I'm trying to decide which sub to upgrade to in the SV line. I currently have a PSW 350 and want a little more oomph. I looking at the lower priced sv's particularly the PB1-ISD and the SVS 16-46PCi. One is the box style and one is the cylinder style. I was wondering which is better. Thanks

Just a thought - you can always try the SVS website, I hear they offer great customer service.

PB1 ISD will hit harder, just by a lil bit, and the 16-w/e will hit lower and not as loud. But only by a small margin, by what? 1.5db? lol
Either will be a great choice...- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
I would rip off an email to SVS and ask them for their recomendation based on your listening habits and room size. Let them know how loud you listen to things and what percentage is music vs home theater. Also give them the full dimensions of the room, length-X-width-X height and any openings you may have. The guys there are great about recomending what you need and not what they want to sell.
Myself im 75/25 HT to music and have a 24x16x9 room with a large opening at one end. They suggested the 25-31, which I had them tweak by putting in a 22Hz tuning port. This way it splits the 25-31 and 20-39 to give me slightly better db than the 20 but lower extension than the 25.
Myself I like the cylinder, it's easier to hide in my room than the box would be . Some say the cylinders sound better, but that opens up an whole area I won't get into.Front

The equivalent cylinder to the PB1-ISD is the 25-31PCi with the optional and free 22 Hz tune (aka the "22-31PCi").
The 16-46PCi is tuned WAY lower - almost too low for most popular applications. The best selling cylinder size is the 20-39, as it represents the best mix of output and extension for most applications. The 25-31 and the 22-31 run a close second in popularity.
Feel free to PM or email me with any other questions on SVS if you would like a second opinion after talking with sales or tech support. Russ' post is a gentle reminder that Club Polk is being used pretty heavily for SVS support. After all, it is Club Polk."What we do in life echoes in eternity"
