1st speaker wire test

I reciently asked which would be a good cable to get so I started with the speaker wire. I had speaker wire from Wal-Mart (16ga Phillips) and I just went and got some 12ga Monster wire for the 3 front speakers to see what the diff. would be. I got the wire with no ends (50ft) for $.80ft from a stereo store. The wire up-grade has really opened up the sound, the highs and mids are more defined and clear the imaging has really be improved. I kept the LF & RT lengths the same even though that may not be of any real coincern I just wanted to keep a that differance out of the equation. I'm sure that this may not be anything new to some here but I thought I'd write this for the ones that may not think that speaker wire is that important to the overall sound they are getting from there set-up. I will be doing the rear also with the same wire and listen to it for a wile and up-grade them to something else (Signal, Axiom &or Kimber) to see the effects between the Monster and those.

Thanks for the info. I like reading evaluations from people that are not trying to sell me a product. Like my dad (who got me into this hobby in the first place) I have always used Monster Cables. And because of that I was never familiar with a system that didn't have Monster cables. I always feel better knowing that I might not have been ripped off spending over 5 bills on speaker wire and interconnects! Not that I would ever change anyway;)ADCOM GTP-830 (pre-amp)

its too bad your original wire wasn't 12ga to compare with but thanks for your impressions none the less.
