Ok, So I know I need an amp. My Onkyo 898 does have well let's say "Small Balls" 110w per channel, this get's the 150's to sing. But I what them to SING !!!!!!!!

So from the 150's owners who make these sing what are you using? What brand? What model? How many Watts? Does this make them SING ?

BTW Think the 150's are beautify balanced, now I just need them to SING.

    Lightweight ...
    Does not run hot ...
    Plenty of POWer ...

Personally I prefer the 17" second incarnation of this ...

BUT, This is actually a VERY good price for this amp ... the second one isn't horrible either ...

You're damn right the Bryston 4B will make them sing:). Have you seen that amp? It's huge and weighs a bloody ton. I tried to lift one up at my dealer and it was damn heavy. I also like the Bryston sound. Very warm and powerful.

I would go with the one WITH feedback, before the one without, although it's no sure bet either way. I think Sunfire would be great....so would the other choices. Nico has raved to me how much he loves his Earthquake....and it is a formidible sounding name for sure, :)

You need to set a price and just search for something in that bracket....all our posts are subjective.

Ok, I'm thinking about the Bryston 4B or the 4BS? something one is 250w the other newer but it's 300w.

So does anyone think there's a big difference in sound or the 50w more would make the 150's happier?

    DJ,
I haven't seen the other model but I doubt the 50w would make that much of a difference. You need to double your power to get a gain of 3db. You can e-mail Bryston and ask them what the main difference is.

    Sean,
You hear a lot of 'bloody' up here too. Not just England. I hear my English friend say 'f#cking' a lot more than 'bloody'. Pretty cool, eh?:D

    dj7,
doro meant the Audiogon seller with the positive feedback rating...

Have you listened to the Sunfire's? Before you dismiss them, you should give them an ear....

I used two Carver TFM 35X for my 150s and they sang to me! One per side and vertically bi amped to boot. Each speaker got 500 watts. I've always liked Carver, and have been very pleased with the combination. I now run the rti12s and like them even better. I picked up both amps used for less than 800.00

    dj7,

Just saying give a listen. At its price point Sunfire is a serious contender.

    Tour,

Yes I give Sunfire some time on my ears. But if I like Byrston sound over Sunfire then I may go with a less $ 3B amp.

    Organ/ATC,

I could care less about bloody.... but, if you are going to say Hoosier, at least spell it correctly. Jeesh. BTW, aren't we under the Bush Monarchy? Two brothers. One Floridian governor, one president. Unusual Florida-based presidential election. Dad as an ex-president. Unilateral foreign invasion decisions. Strong support of the CIA. Dick Cheney. Sure smells like a poorly-stealth'd-monarchy. Eh, who cares, its all one big happy family.
