When I picked up my first piece of tube gear, I wanted to go all-out (but stay within my budget, ok I went a couple of hundie over), so when the seller said the Cary was available with or without the tubes, I said what the heck, let's do this!
He claimed to be a retired MD, a millionaire and now delt with rare vintage cars, I thought to myself, yeah, right. He was real nice and seemed legit
So this afternoon, I get off the phone with my drug dealer of choice (Andy @ Vintage Tube Services) and he tells me these are worth $$$
They sound fantastic, lush and full bodied. I understand they are even better when coupled with a phono stage pre. Mine is line level
These supposedly have less than 500 hours on them
How rare are these and what's approx value??
TY

I don't think they'll be terribly valuable unless NOS -- I've got some (a bunch actually) of very similar 6SN7s (most used, but a couple-three NOS) down in da basement. If you find out that they are high zoot, even used, let me know and I'll be cashing out.

According to my Pusher-Man, these command top dollar. I'm sure you could make more than a few dollars
but if you have a couple that test strong I would like first dibs
Any who, call the dude.

You should dig those bad boys out from the depths of the basement, Mark

NOS, maybe -- used, it's kind of unimaginable. They're just not hard to find (at least used).
I like these (5692 -- made by either RCA or GE, but branded "Westinghouse") a tad bit better, 6SN7-wise (and FWIW). These are a little bit uncommon, but again not really too hard to find -- at least used. I found these in a cigar box with some old tubes in it.

Like in the OP picture, I'm pretty sure the tell tale trait of the $$$ tubes that's in question is the metal section (where the printing is) and the circa 1942-45 date codes

Maybe the date is the tricky bit -- 'cause there be a mess of 6SN7s with tall envelope & metal base downstairs... I'll check the date codes; p'haps the ones here are much newer.
