I have taken up a new hobby of skeet and target shooting. Without getting into an in depth discussion of firearms (against club rules), just wondering if anyone has taken up the hobby. It is a lot of fun, great stress reliever and my ten year old has joined the air rifle club at my range and taken a serious interest as well.

I was in a trap shooting league in the 90's. Better get yourself a reloader. Ammo is pricey.
-
Yes, trap only. One bird is hard enough, two is beyond my grasp.
Ensure your ear protection and have fun.
A great way to spend money without even thinking about it.
If there is a course for sporting clays around give that a shot (pun not intended) and be ready for a blast, (again pun not intended).

Sister in law got me and the misses out a few times. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Except the part that when the Sis in law shoots, she rarely misses... -
Yes to all; definitely invested in good ear and eye protection for myself and my daughter. Actually have done skeet, trap, sporting clays - we have a great club in PG County Maryland that is open to the public. I wanted to do something that was fun and a hobby without costing as much as and investing as much time and money as golf. I can go and get a round in in about an hour / 90 minutes and be home. with the ammo as pricey as it is, it isn't as inexpensive as it was years ago but I am fine with it. I also belong to the local Izaak Walton League (and my daughter does air rifle league there) and do pistol target shooting as well. Thoroughly enjoy it and since my daughter has taken such a liking to it and has been very attentive in learning all of the safety issues and basics, it is something we can do together. You should see peoples faces when she tells them that she likes to shoot. They are stunned to find out she isn't talking about shooting hoops (though she is pretty good at that too).Shawn

I had a friend take me hunting once.
I didn't like that he only gave me a 15 minute head start.
And what's up with the Day-Glo orange, circular print vest anyway?
Shawn, if you've not joined yet head over to the Audio Pub, we talk about
all kinds of neat shooting stuff there (link in my sig). So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

Been a while but long range marksmanship.
I am still very solid out to about 800 yards.
I qualified during my time in the military on the really long range stuff but didn’t get a slot in the school before my time was up."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

I dabble in both shorter range rifle target shooting and reloading. Also shoot some clays a few weekends a year. Both are non competition strictly for fun . I have a little range set up on family property.

I've been shooting forever, but never did learn how to shoot skeet/trap. I was going to buy clays/rounds for this weekend, but the local sporting goods store that rhymes with Licks won't let me in the buy what i need. Maybe next weekend...I have an 870, but I just have never been into shotguns much.

Every year as temps warm up we take acre of a few tin cans and many clay birds in the "back yard". But, as soon as the 1st beer is opened the rest of the birds and cans will be spared.
Nice to be able to set up targets on a whim. Sure would like one of those auto throwers. Stationary targets and OK, but for us there's nothing like trying to hit something moving.

I sure wouldn't want to use my 870 for much clay fodder. Some yes but you'd have to be good to go up against semiauto platforms real-time.

I turnt mine into a "Riot" gun. Trigger time is no longer about fun.

My use my Beretta A300 12 and a CZ Teal 20.
I’m actually going to swing by Bass Pro tomorrow to stock up on target loads and maybe a couple hundred clays for a rainy day...or zombie birds.
Most likely zombie birds...Where’s the KABOOM?!?! There’s supposed to be an Earth shattering KABOOM!!! -
