Atrium 55's

Stumbled on a pair of used Atrium 55s locally for $50. Just wondering if that is a good deal. I currently have an old pair of M3 II all weather speakers that are still running strong (even though they're 20+/- years old and have not been very well cared for since installing them outdoors a couple years ago).

Thoughts on whether these newER Atriums would be an improvement and are worth the asking price?

Thanks - Al

I'd say they are a good deal and snatch em up... The current Atriums on Polks ebay site are at the cheapest 80 bucks and those ones use a 4 1/2 woofer and a 3/4 tweeter...

    I believe yours are a 5 1/4 woofer and a 1" tweeter....

Thanks Dan. I believe you're correct. From what I found on them, they were the middle of the Atriums at the time (the 45s were the smaller ones, and the 65s were the larger ones). The 55's look to be 100WPC, 5-1/4" woofer, 1" tweeter. Probably most comparable to the current Atrium 6's.

I'm going to check them out this evening. For 50 bucks, I don't have much to lose, and likely something to gain! Plus, these are black, and if anything, will look better than my dirty white M3's!

I'll post later on my impressions.

Those sound fantastic on our deck with the Polk outdoor sub. That looks like a really good price.

Well, unless there's anything major wrong with them, they'll likely be coming home with me. May have to consider the sub at some point!

Got 'em. They cleaned up really nice and sound great. Now to get them installed outside to replace the M3's. I was really impressed with the bass from such a small speaker...

My Atrium 55's get a lot of use...grilling, swimming, playing basketball, or just sitting outside relaxing the tunes are usually going.

Anyone know where I can get a replacement 5.25” speaker for one of my Atrium55’s. Live in the UK and can’t get one from anywhere or even the US to ship!?
