Am I nuts?

I am hearing things I have never heard before in my music... like the individual tracks that have been baked down to form the two stereo tracks. This happens on LP and cd regardless of SACD or regular CD. It is especially apparent on music that the vocals were laid down separate from the instrumental portions, which is a LOT of music.

The instrumentation is usually very full bodied and full of spacial cues, rich textures and plenty of depth. Vocals on the other hand, can sometimes appear flat or compressed, without any of the sparkle I would expect.

This does not happen always, and many recordings sound fantastic, but there are many that just seem to be ripped open and exposed as still sounding good musically, but vocally, they just break the illusion of true-to-life that my system is capable of painting. Any ideas or have I gone insane somewhere in this rabbit hole known as audiophilia?

Listen to your music on a my little kitty CD player for a month, and your worries will vanish.

Sounds like a very high resolution system. I like being able to hear different recording techniques used.

    What about live recordings?

Go back to a tubed pre amp and your musicality will return. I've always said super revealing gear can sound good, but too much of a good thing can have the opposite effect.

As far as you being nuts.....tell us something we don't know. lol
