lsim705/tv setup

Just picked up a pair of lsim705 to replace my rti10's. Unfortunately the speakers are a little too high for my current tv mount height. I have the tv on an articulating arm. I use it to move the tv into the corner of the room and out of the window (it is usually in the corner as we dont get a chance to watch a lot of tv and that window adds a lot of light to the basement). The room is about 20' x 12' and ceiling is about 7' high. One option is to move the tv higher, but it is already quite high. There is an opening on the left side that is about eight feet long. Right now the speakers are about 18" from the front wall. If I move them closer to the front wall I may be able to move the tv into the corner somewhat. Other than moving the tv higher, any other suggestions? ( I may end up raising the tv, but if something else works instead I may be able to lower it a bit...and in the process make my wife happier as she finds it too high already!)
In the photo I still have the rti10s, but they will be moving soon. Also, hopefully replacing the csi5 with lsim704 or 706 depending on how much more my wallet and wife will allow :)

Lol I think my wife would appreciate the speakers being closer to the wall as I got permission to move the couch a foot and half from the rear wall when setting my rear speakers, but have been hearing about how far the speakers are sticking into room and shrinking the room.

When it swings to the right, out of the window, does it do so without arcing out from the wall further? If yes, I'd lower the mounting point of the TV and pull the speakers out further so the TV "slides" behind the speaker. I also don't have to answer to anybody, so there's that. ;)

I will try that out when I back home tomorrow. I had never thought about that...that's why I posted here...always lots of great ideas to try out. Not sure how little I can get the path of tv to arc, but will find out.

As far as the wife approval factor, selling or moving the RTi10's out of the room will make it look better as would painting the board that the TV mount is attached to the same color as the wall.

The rti10s are just there right now while I wait to sell them. I have both connected to the amp to hear the difference between them...my wife was like wow, these are so much better when she heard the 705s.

What, you don't like the beautiful piece of plywood with the silver mount on it
That is another reason why I like to keep the tv in the corner. Been debating what to do with the fugly setup. Not sure if I will just paint it or maybe build a small box around it.

Kurt300, your post is a little scary as I had joked to my wife that I could just mount the tv in the ceiling and connect a motor to a mount and have it flip down when we were gonna use it! The funny thing about your comment about the black wall...my wife has been toying with that idea also! Also been thinking if have a black curtain to cover the opening on the left side and have a black curtain towards the front half of the room on the right side that can be pulled down when watching a movie! The joys of having a drop down ceiling that allows easy trial and error

You need one of those cabinets where the TV rises up for viewing.

Lol that would look snazzy. (I have no idea why the word snazzy came to mind!)

What are the chances you can flip the room so the TV is on the back wall where you can mount it wherever you need height wise? Also would help with bass reinforcement for your left speaker since its got two wall boundaries.

    Alternately....

Maybe a projector with a motorized retractable screen that goes down when in use, and up into a hidden sofit when not. You could keep the TV where it needs to be in the corner for normal casual TV viewing and move the speakers farther back....

I think my wife has been sending some telepathic brainwaves to forum members , she has wanted a projector as well, but we will do that in a few years down the road. We had toyed about changing the tv to the other side, but the sectional would end up blocking most of the entrance area to the room and we would lose a lot of the light in the basement rooom. Its a walkout and we use the basement quite a bit. Eventually I think I will end up with the projector and the drop down white screen from the ceiling..but not for now...I have go justify having bought that tv just over a year ago! And I have to save up for a nice centre channel to go along with those beatiful 705's

Would having a black curtain drop down on the left side from ceiling help at all with bass. I had to move the subwoofer to the back of the room because the sound just sounded so dull in the sitting area (there was no warmth to it at all, sounded kind of lifeless..not sure if the safe and sound insulation in the back wall played a role) and my son would climb up on sub to jump off

what are your thoughts on lowering the floor? it would take some work, but it's totally doable.

on a more serious note, what other types of arms are there? have you seen any that have adjustable height as well as swing? I use one of these types for a monitor setup in my office, but that seems specifically geared for deskmount. it's got a spring you can adjust the tension on with an allen wrench, which controls the resting height and "assist". essentially, you could lift and swing the tv with something like this.

Can you just cover the window with part of it? IE buy a new rack that has a TV mount with it?

Saw some tv lift cabinets at www.tvliftcabinets.com, but my wife would kill me if I spent that type of money on something like that. Lol my engineering buddy and I would have a fun saturday designing something to raise and lower the tv :).

EndersShadow, I just clicked on your link there. That looks like an interesting option.
Msg, I was thinking of looking at something like that or even if it was possible to add something to my existing arm that would allow height adjustment

Just tried Nightfall's suggestion and it works. You just have to be careful when moving the tv but it can 'slide'. Only had to pull the speaker out an inch to accomplish it without having to be super careful (wanted to make sure it was still easy to do.even after a couple of drinks, or if someone else tries to do it when I not home).
Only a small portion of screen is blocked by speaker when tucked into the corner so it is still viewable. Only thing that sucks about this solution is that it is simple and not a funky project
