Rolling Stones concert - its gotten obscene

I tried to get tickets to the Stones Zip Code tour this summer. Got on the second it opened for sale and EVERYTHING was sold out. Well, could've got a platinum ticket in the bleachers for $647 each. Or close up for $3,995. This has gotten obscene. It's like that Youtube video that was floating around awhile ago, with Hitler saying "It's gonna be a field day for the scalpers!"

I can see why, they were preselling American Express holders and some other entity (I forget) starting 04/08 and ending yesterday.

Not sure they were preselling at the show I was referring to, which I should add in all fairness (LOL) was the 25,000 seat Marcus Ampitheater at the Milwaukee Summerfest. In the 100,000 seat stadiums I'm sure it's a MUCH better situation. Yeah, right. (I just checked back and I see now the platinum bleacher seats for $647 are no longer available.) I saw the Stones three times during the '06 or '08 tour whatever it was before this tour last year, and I must count my blessings I guess, my buddy and I sat next to the little stage each time and never paid more than $150 I think which we thought was a lot at the time, once in Milwaukee, once in Soldier Field and once in the United Center in Chicago.

I figured it was the same all the way around. Stones are playing the Ohio State 100,000 seat stadium. Same situation here, no tickets unless you want nose bleeders and not many of them left. I was sort of bummed that they scheduled the show the same day I leave for vacation, but not so much now.

Seen them at Ohio State and thought $90 was over priced. Now it's crazy for all the old bands.

    I suppose they're trying to cash in one last time. Given their age this . . . may - be - the - last - time - I - don't - know . . .

See what I did there :D

Lol. I remember seeing them in 1990 and everybody said it would be the last time. The last time they changed the set list maybe.... I don't know. Ha

Haven't cared for anything Stones since Some Girls, did see them off the Voodoo Lounge tour long time ago, Blind Melon was the opening act and I thought they were better, they need Mick Taylor back, as Ron Wood, and Keith Richards don't come close in my opinion.

Paul, I was never notified about the Amex presale even though I've had a card for 25 years, nor the Summerfest presale. But I've now heard several people say they were cut out of all presales and public sale so I don't feel so bad now. Lol. It is just like Hitler said, "It's gonna be a field day for the scalpers!" My buddy says we can just show up in Minneapolis and get a decent priced ticket outside. I tend to agree.

I hit the button at 10:30 for NC. I got $382 seat. No way i can afford that. All the $82 seats were not available. Concert tickets are insane

Crazy prices these days. I spent $170 per ticket for Van Halen a couple years ago. Thought that was expensive but these prices are ****. Would have been worth it if DLR's voice was worth a ****. Wasn't... Kool and the Gang put on a better show as the opening act...

I pretty much stopped listening after the some girls tour which I went to
at Cleveland Stadium. Good times. Can't go back. I've stopped going as
people can't stay off their phones and shut up.

Hey Red: I was at a Bob Dylan concert a couple years ago that was the last show of the tour, Chicago Theater maybe. Anyway, I had tickets in the first row off to the side on the right. Some guy had brought his girlfriend and they were in the front row center. She NEVER looked up from texting on her cell phone the whole show. At the end of the show, Dylan (who never talks) went to the mic and looks right at her and says, "There's a woman in front here who was on her phone the entire show, she didn't see or hear NOTHING!" Of course, she didn't hear what Dylan said because she was still looking at her phone. I was thinking, you just never know what if that was Dylan's last show ever and that last thing he would've ever said was a comment on some stupid idiot in the front row who never got off her phone.

Anyone remember Robin Trower? I saw him in 2009 at a small cub, standing right at stage front. Awesome experience. Cost me less than $50

I saw Robin in 2014, also @ a small venue. He is one of the most underrated guitarist of our time. He is also one of my favorite musicians. Two general admission tickets less than a $100.00.

I saw Robin somewhere around 2009-10, and tickets were inexpensive, he left it all on the stage. Would've loved to see him play with Jack Bruce.

That's what we do -- there are dozens of small venues in northern New England that feature top local talent as well as some remarkable, world-class 'names' in comfortable, even intimate, settings at reasonable prices. E.g., we saw Bruce Cockburn at the Somerville (MA) Theatre last year, and David Bromberg, David Hildago and Larry Campbell at the Flying Monkey (a favorite venue of ours now) in Plymouth, NH recently. Cockburn was very good; the latter show was absolutely superb.

Anything involving Larry Campbell will be superb. I saw him countless times when he was Bob Dylan's guitar player and I still consider that to be Dylan's best band ever. Larry is an incredibly accomplished guitarist, but also a multi-instrumentalist and harmony vocalist. He produced Levon Helm's records before he died (including I think Dirt Farmer, which is superb).

I think Larry Campbell was also Levon's guitar player at the Rambles. Love that Dirt Farmer album, and also Electric Dirt (the followup). Levon was one of my favorite drummers.

Lol, too funny! I heard Savage refer to them awhile back as The Strolling Bones. I haven't bought one of their albums since Hot Girls.

As far back and as far up as you can go in Madison Square Garden for the "Get Your Ya-Ya's Out" tour in Nov 1969. I gave myself a ticket for my 17th birthday. It cost $5.
