Roku & Redbox ?

So a year & a half ago or so on CP i read about Roku 3's & now i have 2 of them & really enjoy them. Thanks to all here & Travis helping me late at night (late here anyways) well my daughter use to go to RedBox (you know those machines at stores) ive never used one. Anyways. With the new smart tv i bought when the Toshiba crapped out on Super Bowl Weekend id like to know if i can sign up for RedBox online & watch better/newer movies online ? My daughter & i enjoy a good horror & comedy movie once in awhile. Although it drives the Mrs's crazy  she hates horror. If it can be done is it reasonable cost vs going to the machine ? Is there better selections out there vs Netflix ?

I use amazon so much I keep them amazon prime for 2nd shipping on everything and it has its instant prime for video's that work excellent thru a Roku, think its like 79 a year divided by 12 =$6.58 a month...unless they changes the price
Lots of TV & movies and Documentaries..just like Netflix..

Price says its going up to $99 a year starting December 23.

Thats a good price. My wife said something about doing the mail 2 dvd thing again with Netflix account & i dont want to be bothered with it. Id like to look online & hit the start button.. My daughter use to do the mail thing. She can keep doing that if she wants BUT im not doing that. I havent played much with the smart tv BUT i think i can add apps/whatever/bookmarks thingys to the screen. Log in & order a movie...... I kinda looked at Amazon back when i got the Roku. Maybe i need to revisit it. It just seems Netflix selection is boring. I dont mind paying per movie if its a good new movie

amazon does both ...that have a huge free selection and even have a rental's for so many hours or you can buy and its always in your cloud!

my sister who lives with me pays for Netflix streaming & I pay for Amazon prime so I get the best of both worlds!

You have the bandwidth for streaming in this "state"? I can't even get all the channels I'm supposed to from TW without constant interruptions and blackouts on many! Those X#$)((*()$! LIE, LIE, LIE. They've told me more than ONCE that they have put up fiber optic cable when I KNOW for a FACT that it's copper as far as the eye can see up here. That's why I do NOT bother to stream HD programming.

But maybe you're closer to Portland than we are and you have greater bandwidth. At least I hope so. As for me, it's Hard Media till I get me out of this state! They will never go fiber optic up here-eats into their outrageous profits!

Cnh. I had Time Warner before i moved back to the coast & now we have Comcast. The old house has still got it. Never had a problem ever. Not sure about all the tech stuff. We use wi-fi with 2 roku's & the smart tv without any issues.

I owe an apology. Redbox doesnt stream online anymore. I thought they did. We just upgraded Netflix & checking on what Amazon has to offer. Thanks for all the feedback

They are adding to the value proposition: Music services and more original content too. So, maybe the subscription rate hike is warranted...

I also use amazon prime for the large free streaming music part. Full CD's actually not just a station.

If you want to stream and watch better/newer movies online that Netflix or Amazon doesn't have use Vudu.
