Upgrade from CS245i to 400? Also should I get the F/X 300i's?

Right now I have a CS245i but was wondering if there is a vast difference between the 245 and the 400? Also how are the f/x300i's? How is the mounting procedure? Is it easy?

Thanks.

What are you running for front speakers? I have owned both and like both with my RT7's.

I have no experience with the fx300i's although a friend of mine just bought a pair and seems to like them.

the 400i is an amazing step up from the 245, IMO anyway....

as for the f/x300's, what are you running for rear's now???

I have the 400i and f/x 300i's and really like the sound. I have RT1000p's for the fronts. When I went to demo the 245, which I was intending to buy, I just happened to listen to the 400i and never looked back. I have had the 300i's about 2 months now and movies are great, for me it was a great choice. I hope this helps.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I have brand new RT1000i's for the fronts and old Optimus LX5s Dipole for surrounds. I am thinking about doing a trade in for my CS245i. This should save me a lot of money. Also the f/x300i 's don't have the tri-lamented (or whatever) tweeter. Will this matter? Should I upgrade to the 500i's?

    Thanks again.

    EDIT- UPDATE:
I am about to purchase the f/x300i's online at www.brandnamez.com

Any advice about using them? Are they any good? That price of 275 for those speakers just might beat out any opinions you guys have but I would like to hear them.

there has been a couple of thread's on here about brandnamez.com. i haven't personally dealt with them, but it sounds like they are a pretty good company. not an authorized dealer, but with polk's customer service....

as for the f/x300i's-ideally, it would be best to match the tweeters/woofer's, but from the front to rear soundstage the tonal variance's are barely noticible. i think you will be very happy with the 300i's....

I had the 300i's with my 1000i's and it was ok... like using the 800i's better myself... anyway.. go for the cs400i.. it will blow you away compared to the 245i....

    happy hunting..

If you can swing it, upgrade to the CS400i and then go with the FX500i's --great match with the frontstage and perfect for dipole setup.

brandnamez worked well for me but also received virus warning around first of the year.i have delt with them 3 times no trouble but they don't double box.I like the 300's and they are easy to install just make sure you locate wall stud.I would have liked to have 500's but lager and cost more also, 300's dont match the mains but not that bad to me.spending the money on SVS.

I use both of these in my system. The CS400i is great... It can handle anything you throw at it.. and still not break a sweat!! The darn thing is like a boat anchor.. weighing in at a whopping 30 lbs!
As for the FX/300i's. true the tweeters are different than the CS400i. But I haven't noticed any difference in the sound stage from front to rear. Surround never put out as much sound as your mains or center or even your subwoofer.. so I wasn't that concerned. I have a very small media room. so I needed small surrounds.
I do have to say though that a couple of times I while watching a DVD with lots of
low frequency sounds.. i have overdriven then a couple times. This especially happened when watching the movie U-571 during the depth charge explosions. I rattled those little suckers.
Otherwise they keep up pretty good with the rest of the system. which is RT800i's, PSW350, CS400i, driven by a high current Marantz receiver.
    just my two cents!
good luck, I think you'll like em.

    Hey guys,
I found an outstanding deal on a CS400i at brandnamez.com for 269.00. I've got a CS245i sitting in the living room still in the box that I purchased from Circuit City last week. Will be taking it back now since I've got this beast coming next week.

Thanks for the input all !!!
