This was posted at audioasylum overnight -- the link is a pretty remarkable quick history of Southern California folk rock's birth. Some of this story is quite familiar to me; some of it, not so much. The juxtaposition of Joni Mitchell, Cass Elliott, and Frank Zappa, e.g. Who knew?
