    I completed the BillD mod myself. I did the basic mod without the extra SH upgrades.
    I have it paired to a recently upgraded m1.0t mkII opt.2 and it sounds amazing Much more open sounding and more refined. I cant compare it to the Sunfire though. For the roughly $100 it costs if you do it yourself its a huge bang for your buck

    I can only offer my own experiences with the Sunfire. It is a solid all around pre. If I hadn't gotten such a deal on my Cary, it would still be living in my rack.

    I would go with the C1... I had the Sunfire, and it was nice, but not impressive...

    Neither are Carvers earlier pre's in my opinion, though with the mod I can't comment on how much of an impact that has on the C-1.
