Denon PMA-920 question.

I just bought a Demon PMA-920 Integrated amp. It has a button im not familiar with. It has a source select knob. One for "CD direct" one "normal" and one for "subsonic". I'm assuming the CD direct may bypass other circuits for cleaner sound but I have no idea what " subsonic" means. Anyone have any ideas ??
Very solid performer by the way. It's driving Pearless 5's but man it woke them up over an AVR.
