LSiM at Future Shop (now BestBuy)

I hope I posted this in the correct spot...if not please let me know...or easier for me, could a mod move it to the correct spot.
Future Shop (FS) had been one of the few retailers to carry the LSiM lineup in the Ontario area that I can think of. The chain recently closed half its stores and converted half its stores to Best Buy (Its parent company). I recently visited a FS that has converted to Best Buy to see if they had any LSiM models as I had wanted to demo and finally hear them. Unfortunately no demo models; however, I spotted a box of LSiM 705's. Asked what the price was as there were no tags. Took the salesperson a bit of time to find the price (I am not sure if that is because Best Buy in Canada won't be carrying them as only FS used to carry them in the past). They are $799 each. I didn't pull the trigger because my brain kicked in and reminded me that I finally finished setting up my 5 year old Rti10's and I don't really need new speakers. Of course, in my mind I was thinking if they were clearing them out and they were $500 each, I would buy them. (when he said $799 I clarified that it was for each, if he had said for the pair I would have bought them right there and asked for forgiveness later, rather than for permission!)
I thought I would pass along this pricing because it seems decent to me and may be cheaper for us Canadians than the recent friends and family prices.
As I type this up, I am still resisting purchasing them...wife would kill me!

Run! Don't walk! 800 a piece is a steal (I'm sure you know msrp for those are 1499). Future shop/best buy will not be carrying lsim line anymore. So once they are gone then that's it. I payed far more for mine. You won't see them that cheap In canada again, or for quite some time. Those will blow the doors off your rti 10's.2 channel:

Update....i couldn't resist any longer...went permission route, rather than forgiveness route...proud new owner! Decided to see if they could sweeten this already greatdeal. Salesperson said it was below cost and he couldn't move lower. I said I would think about it and had to arrange to get someone to pick them up for me anyways. After doing that I decided to pull the trigger and it was someone else helping me check out. Turned out to be the manager, who was able to knock the price down a little bit for me. Long story short, speak to the manager to see if any room to move on this already great price (I know I should have done that in the first place!). Looking forward to setting them up

10 percent off. it was cheaper than the polk sale. I don't think they gonna carry the line anymore. None of the sale staff seem to know about it. I just happened to see a pair of boxes sitting in the corner on the audio section. They did find lsim704 and 706 in their system but no listing for the 705. I talked to the Canadian rep. He said the lsim was not selling so well in Canada so they decided to pull it and clear them out. I did get the 706c super cheap!2 channel:

Finally got a chance to unbox one and hook it up. First impression...sound clearer and 'fuller' than the rti10. Even my wife mentioned they were clearer. The rti10s almost sound muffled at times (but that was only apparent when listening to them both at same time. get them set up correctly and you will be able to close your eyes and see a virtual band playing in front of you

Congrats on the purchase - I also grabbed a pair before Future Shop disappeared - interesting to see Best Buy now has some of the LSiM's on their website, but with much higher prices. No stock either...

Just took a look at best buy site. No lsim705 listed...must be why they clearing them out. Looks like I wont be able to snag a deal if I see one of the center channels in a store as those are listed on their website. Is it just me or did prices go up. I could have sworn one if the salespersons at the store the other day had said 1100 for the 706c when he checked the price in the systen, but no stock available.

Ran into one issue, these are taller than rti10 as expected, but turns out my tv which I swing into the corner of the room to let in light through the window won't clear the speakers. The mounting rails have a few inches to play with so that may allow the tv to clear speaker, but it will be close! I am trying not to move the mount up higher on the wall as I don't want to move lag bolts again. Ideally I would like to move the tv lower a few inches. The only thing I can think of is to move the speakers back towards the wall a bit.
On another note these feel wobblier than the rti10s. Hopefully the six month old won't knock them over when he starts furniture walking. The rti10s survived his older brother doing that! These spikes poke deeper into carpet vs rti10s though, making it more difficult to position them.

I moved mine a few times. I vacuum over the holes with my dyson, and they completely disappear. Guess it depends on the carpet.2 channel:

Was able to get the 706c from bestbuy.ca...the last one, for the same price as future shop clearance price of $599. Only problem is that it is cherry and not midnight mahogany like my 705's, but for $599 I am not gonna complain about that! BTW I was at the futureshop in waterloo and the have one pair of lsim 705's in midnight mahogany for $799 each speaker. Hopefully the mismatched speakers look ok together. Hopefully they get delivered by Tuesday!

One other thing I would add is that if you are looking for one of the lsim speakers, check with the store if they can look into the inventory in the other old futureshops. Some of the ones that are open may have some stock or floor stock. From what I gather, the inventory in the closed future shops has not been distributed out to the open stores or online store yet, so that stock may eventually appear once they get all the inventory sorted out, but it is currently unaccessible.lsim705,lsim706c,lsif/x(4)+mc80(atmos)
