Polk vs JBL The new Rivalry in our household!!!
Well it all started a few months ago I gave the grandson a pair of my old JBL speakers I bought back in the 80s have a few pair so I figured what the heck. I also gave him a Onkyo receiver and a Marantz CD player for his bedroom to go with them JBLs plus I gave him a pair of JBL powered Computer speakers.
I got my Polk Boom Swimmer during F&F and we took it with us today mountain biking, me the wife and grandson did 20 miles on some of the easier trails we had tunes the whole time packed our camel backs with snacks an awesome day to say the least. The past few days they both been eyeing my Polk Boom and hinting they want one.
After the ride we came home showered up went to best buy to get Interstellar on Blu Ray for tonights entertainment all of a sudden off the wife and grandson ran to the Blutooth Speaker Section, they listened to all they had Beats, Bose, Marshall, (looks like a mini Marshall guitar amp) they did not have the Polks in stock. Skyler and the Wife saw the JBL's and they were on sale so I treated each of them to a JBL Bluetooth Speaker, my Wife is on my Grandsons side he is all proud of all his JBL gear, the little guy has the audio bug, and will be just like me and the wife a music lover .
Anyways we had a little Bluetooth speaker shootout source all Samsung smart phones, Skyler choice was Metallica, the Wife Stevie Wonder, me the new AC/DC I have to admit the JBLs sound pretty darn good be it hard Rock or R&B, the Polk sounds just as good with a tad more on the bass side. Skyler swears his JBL kicks butt so I let him be the winner me the little guy is grinning from ear to ear. So with a house currently full of Polk speakers the little guy is a JBL fan. He does like the SDAs and the RTIas as now its time for Interstellar! I'm rambling I'm out time to go watch Interstellar

Enjoy the show!Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. What I am tryin to say is, is that the course of your life, well its changing, and you don't even see it- Forest Bondurant

Maybe it wasn't a good Idea the grandson was blasting Megadeth in the spare bedroom this morning, the wife blasting Steely Dan in the kitchen, they all left for church just a bit ago I'm cooking Easter dinner finally some peace and quite. I guess that means me the dogs and the 2 channel. I'm thinking of hiding thier Bluetooth speakers until I go back to work tomorrow.Home Theater

Yeah bet that Camden square will be pretty decent enjoy it, I will probably get the Urchin next. I would go for the Camden or the Woodbourne if we didn't already have a couple of Bose I pod docks, Polk is doing a good job on there Bluetooth lineup.

Old JBLs and Polks in the same room! OMG! Monitor 7s and JBL L80Ts. I'm a "sinner"! lol
IMO, bluetooth is STILL just for background listening. Too much compression for critical appreciation, but OK for daily musical noise.Currently orbiting Bowie's Blackstar.!

Steve! The word "hoarder" comes to mind more and more when reading your posts!

Not much of a JBL fan here... more of an Altec guy.

If you have a chance give the jbl flip 2 a try, very nice sound with surprising volume that doesn't distort for two small 6 watt drivers.

A friend of mine has one of those, sounds pretty descent while hanging out by the fire pit. I know the hate on bose around here, but I have a sound link mini that kicks out some serious sound for its size. I wouldn't recommend it at its 200$ price tag, got mine through a friend at the bose store for 100$. sounds great when stuck into a corner for some "room gain".2 channel:
