EQing 2 channel

in 2 Channel Audio
Question for the 2 channel guys. I have a 2.1 system but my preamp does not have bass management. Anybody using a stand alone EQ for room equalization, like you would when using a receiver with audyseey or the likes? Any suggestions, thanks

    LOL - that was funny stuff... and no - no equalizer in my 2CH. I think that's generally considered a no-no but I could be wrong. Unless we're talking bass management from SACD players?

    When I 1st got into 2 channel music my I started with a Peachtree Integrated amp that had no tone controls, and I think as you get better equipment and cables the need for tone controls goes away and you find they are not need anymore!

    Most 2 channel guys don't have a need for bass management. It will add a level of noise to the signal those equalizers. But....if it floats your boat many can be had for 20-40 bucks on craigslist so not like you have to mortgage the farm to try one out.

    I'm talking strictly for bass management, The 703's have a bump at 50hz and when you add a sub its really pronounce. The ideal solution would be to buy a preamp with bass management but that's a little pricey, so hence the question of the stand alone EQ, to accomplish the same thing (sort of). Or does anyone make an external low pass filter? Welcoming suggestions.

    I'm not sure what your source is, but I have a room that really needs larger speakers the my MD2's so at I often lack bass. If I am going to EQ my system I prefer doing it from the source i.e. my Jrivers media. This also helps be correct poor recordings for a more enjoyable listening session....basically reproduction of a track without implementing more noise/distortion is my electronics chain.
