FXiA6 - connection question/ wire question

Hello,
Just purchased a pair of FXiA6 speakers and was wondering if straight Banana connectors will work if I am hanging these speakers on the wall? I would like to order my speaker wire (Belden 5000 series 10 guage-white) and have the connectors welded on (not soldered according to the site).

Also- one of the two rear FXiA6's is going to need about a 45ft speaker wire - should I go with the 10 guage because of the length speaker wire? Or is 12 guage enough?

Thanks in advance for any insight.....

12 ga should be fine, and banana's may stick out too far for placement on a wall. Maybe spades or even bare wire would be best.

Frankly, useless you are using cheap or flat wire I don't see how one would connect wire to that speaker hung on a wall as there is maybe 1/2" of clearance.

Put a hole in the wall where the binding cup is and run your wires through the walls?

I've got my FXi3s hanging from the wall just fine with bare wire, and they sound just fine. Just make sure you put the screws into the studs on the walls to hang them since the speakers are so heavy.

I know its been answered already but I will add this for future reference. I use Nakamichi banana clips and they do touch the wall with my fxia6s. I couldnt go flush against the wall. I spaced it about 1/8" and now it sits even

  • Thanks tonyb! That was my main concern. I think I will go with bare wire and remove all doubts.

  • Thanks for all the replies..... Went with a bare wire on the speaker end. I have had so much going on I haven't had a chance to mount the FXiA6's yet and it looks like it will be next weekend. The one wall is a outside wall which is block.

They use 3/4" marine plywood strips to lathe the exterior walls for sheetrock so I am thinking a blue tapcon screw would work.

I would just use a plastic self sinking drywall anchor (these hold 50 pounds) but it will hit the block. ( I am really limited on the space these need to be hung and the strips are on 2' centers )

I might just get stands ....... I dunno.
