Interstellar on Blu-Ray

Picked this up on Blu-Ray today. Saw it in the Imax months ago and really liked it. This disc has some of the deepest earth shaking LFE I have ever experienced. I will try my best not to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it, but when they enter the black hole was super intense. I have never heard my ultras hit this deep and hard. EVER. period. I feared for my house and its drywall and possible air bag deployment of my cars in the garage lol. It might be a sub destroyer for lower budget subs, worse than the sub 20 hertz scene in the beginning of live, die, repeat.

I just picked up a copy at my local library yesterday, Not in Blu-Ray, but my Sammy 4K TV and DVD player makes everything that I watch look and sound amazing, so with my youngest son on spring break this week, this will be on our "To Do" list this morning! Thanks for the heads up!

I was hoping exodus would be good! Good thing, I almost made the mistake of buying it.

I watched Exodus the other day and it was not all bad, but just made you think. I think we have been use to seeing the 1940's version of the Ten commandments that this thought process was missing something. Early that same day I was watching the history channel about the Hittie empire, and they were the other major force in the region during this time period.

I did like how this movie did tie that bit of information into the story line. Also I can grasp the concept of Ramsey advisors trying to explain the plagues. What I did not warm up to was how "God" was presented to Moses, It just made me want to go back and read about again from an adult perspective.

Same boat. Purchased it today, but haven't watched it yet. About to start itnow.

I did see it in the theatre, and thought it was a very good movie with a few monor flaws.

I have not seen Exodus, so I cannot compare. It does seem hard to do a comparison as one is based upon Biblical writings, and one is fiction. exodus (if similar to Noah) is a complete failure to follow The Bible, so I don't see how we can compare the two (or three) movies, IMO (exceot maybe Noah and exodus, and how far they depart from the The Bible, but again I have not seen Exodus). Then again, they are movies, and not The Bible so take them for what they are (or are not)). Not a (personal) bash on you Tony, just the idealogies you are putting out.

I will let you know how the sound of the movie is later on tonight.

Sorry guys, but comparing Interstellar to Exodus is absurd. Your opinion obviously, but this is nowhere near as bad as Exodus. I thought it was great and I know we all differ, but I don't see how any reasonable person could try to equate the two.

The general public and movie critics alike seem to agree with me, check out the review over on RT.

I watched it last night too. I really liked until it got weird, after entering the black hole, then it was a real let down.

Do you mean the bookcase black hole? I could agree a bit weird in the end. Seemed people either loved or hated this movie.

I'm glad to hear all of your reviews and especially some of those that were honest enough to say it wasn't all that. Seems like all the reviews I heard about while the movie was at the theatre was that it was the greatest ,most eye opening thing sliced sliced bread.

I've literally seen none of the reviews you're talking about. I'm not saying they're not out there but I certainly didn't get that impression overall. Looking at Rotten Tomatoes the reception was actually fairly mixed especially by movie critics.

This does seem to be a love it or hate it kind of movie, which I'll take any day over "meh, it was ok". I'd much rather have my movie elicit a strong reaction, even a bad one, that be jus ok.

Parts of this movie were shot specifically for IMAX and apparently that's why, doesn't bother me and I certainly wouldn't go so far as to call it garbage.

IMO, the audio on my system and from the Blu-Ray was much better than when we saw the movie in the theatre. There were portions of the dialog that were absolutely drowned out by the music playing. I thought this was on purpose, but after watching on Blu-Ray, I found that it should not have been this way. I actually understood everything that was said this time.

I thought the beginnig when McConaughey's character is piloting the ship was pretty damn impressive as far as LFE's go. The walls, floor, my couch, and I were all rumbling and shaking. Awesome!

I like this move even more after seeing it the second time (and also because I could understand all the dialogue).

    Definately recommended!

The dialog being drowned out by the music in certain scenes actually WAS intentional, Nolan and Zimmer have both made comments confirming that.

Agreed about it being intentional, but it was drowned out in some spots in the theatre I saw it in when it should not have been. When I watched it on the Blu-Ray, I was able to understand those parts (which I could not in the theatre).
