Monitor series identification please (pic heavy)

Hi there, today was visiting my local recycle centre and I picked up a pair of what I believe to be Monitor 10's. Unfortunately they are missing the stub from the rear, that would have made identification real easy! (No stands either, I will make some)
The crossover has 2 fuses on it, the upper fuse protects the tweeter, the lower protects the whole speaker. To me the tweeters look like SL1000's but mounted upside down. 2 x 6.5" drivers in parallel, 10" passive driver. Lots of wadding inside and some corrosion on the crossover 2.7ohm resistor. Initially I thought it was heat damage, but it is corrosion.
Interesting grill mounting clips as well. I have both original grills. Only one has the Polk Audio logo tho.
They sound very nice, one tweeter fuse holder was dirty, maybe the lack of treble on that side is why they were discarded. A quick clean, all fine now!
The last pic says it all tho
They are sitting next to my SDA-1A's, and don't go as deep, but fill my smallish room well.
Cheers
Chris

A steal! I have a pair that I love to run on a Marantz 2265. There is, IMO, a nice synergy between those old Marantz pieces and Polk vintage Monitors. Smooth, warm, calming: the so-called "three martini sound"!
Enjoy!Currently orbiting Bowie's Blackstar.!

What a good deal. I've found a few pairs going to thrift stores and garage/estate sales. Not quite the deal you got though- $8.80 is great. Thanks for the welcome peoples, I have been a member for a little while now and forgot that I hadn't posted. From my research, I am leaning towards calling them Monitor 10As, mainly due to the coated PR.
I also own a pair of SDA-1A that I got for $30 from another recycle centre. My room can't justify the SDAs, they sound nice, but need to breathe. The Monitors are filling it well.
My system is Optonica TT with Shure V15MkIII (wearing Jico SAS stylus) into Amber model 17 pre into Amber series 70 main. This sounds a little sibilant on both sets of Polks, I am trying to get something like an 80s era Pioneer, Marantz or Yamaha to tone it down a bit. -
I'm curious why the passive radiator doesn't have the grey trim. Are both of them black or is one grey one black? It looks like there are 4 screws but 8 holes. They might not be the correct passives, if they are weighted different in the later versions.
Just looked up a picture, there are 8 holes in the grey trimmed passives too. Are there supposed to be 8 screws in yours and some are missing? Have you done the air leak test?

I certainly respect your opinion, I am far from an expert in these matters. They both have matching black ringed PRs, only marking I can find on them is SR 229 stamped into the outer ring. This makes me think that these PRs never had grey rings on them.
So maybe they are a replacement PR from a later series? But why?
I agree, 8 holes in the PR, but only 4 in the cab.
Does the SL 1000 with the centre hole in the dome and 6.5" driver (see pic 3 above) id the speaker any better?
All the drivers need resealing, they have a grey "dried putty" type of sealer there, very brittle and missing in places. I can feel air from around the edge of the drivers in places when in use.
This sleuthing is fun!

You've probably already read this but: replacement for gasket use Armaflex-

What stogie said. Push the dacron in the bottom of the cabinet up to the top.Does the SL 1000 with the centre hole in the dome...
@mhardy6647 can you clarify why his passives don't have the same grey gasket on the fronts as the midwoofers? Incorrect replacement, or is it okay?
