LOL. I will thank you now. I am sure this will fall into the 'when I win the lottery' category, but it is good to dream. :)

Just so happens I'm on a beer run and a Powerball run, I play my own numbers so it's like a curse I've been playing those #s for years if those numbers would happen to hit the time I forgot to play I would be an ex Polkies, but rest assured Blue if my #s hit tonight I will personally deliver you a pair as long as you provide the brewskis.

On the other hand if my #s don't hit tonight, I will blame you and your quest for the perfect pair of end game speakers. HMMM I wonder what will become of this nights drawing?

Deal. I get blamed for everything else, so why not be the cause of you not winning the lottery. I want the same color as in the picture, and I will pay for your delivery gas. :)

Sure, $17k plus shipping sounds fair. Of course, that hinges on someone else buying the new S7, and then selling it to me a few months later at a good price. :)

    Here is some newer info.

    Sensitivity: 89dB
    Impedance: 4-Ohms
    Frequency Response: 20 Hz – 50 KHz
    Recommended Power: 50-1000 Watts
    Dimensions: 56” (142cm) H x 20” (48cm) D x 25” (63cm) W
    Weight: 300 lbs.
    SRP: MCast $58K; MCoat $64K

"The S7 is a full range, 3-way design, floor standing loudspeaker that incorporates new tweeter, midrange and bass driver designs which are derived from the engineering triumphs in the MProject loudspeaker. Towering over other S-Series models, the acoustic suspension enclosure of the S7 features curved aluminum side panels that are machined in-house from half-inch thick aluminum extrusions which are sixteen-inches in diameter.

Internal bracing is carefully positioned throughout the enclosure to minimize resonances and create an ideal operating environment. The S7 houses three new 10-inch bass drivers that have extremely powerful magnets and ultrastiff aluminum cones which are capable of producing deep powerful bass frequencies with speed and accuracy. The excursion rate of the voice coil is measured at 15-mm linear movement and produces clean and undistorted sound pressure levels up to 120dB @ 50Hz / 1-meter. The midrange driver (6-inch) in the S7 brings a new benchmark of measured performance to Magico. The cone material is formulated using Arkema Multi-Wall carbon nanotube and XG Sciences C-750 Nanographene which combined is 20% lighter and 300% stiffer than previous cone material designs. The underhung neodymium base motor system uses two extra-large magnets which provide an ultra-stabilized magnetic field for the pure titanium voice coil to operate within. The driver operates in a purpose built sub-enclosure made of a proprietary polymer material that was first introduced in the S3.

The S7 incorporates a new (1-inch) tweeter that features a diamond-coated beryllium diaphragm with optimized geometry, created using state-of-the-art Finite Element analysis modeling tools. This purpose built tweeter has extra-long excursion movement and uses a neodymium based motor system that is customized to match the sensitivity and power handling capabilities of the S7 while maintaining ultra-wide dispersion characteristics and ultra-low distortion measurements. All five drivers in the S7 are acoustically integrated using Magico’s exclusive Elliptical Symmetry Crossover topology that includes state-of-the-art components from Mundorf of Germany."

Well, unless a bag of money falls out of the sky, these are fantasy speakers. I find it amusing that I would never even consider spending $60k for a car, but wonder if I could swing speakers at that price. LOL.

Haha... it's all relative I guess.

Yeah, so these are truly the S7... do you know if the drivers on these supersede those in the Q series? My assumption is no, but I'm reading some numbers and specs on those on the S7 and holy geez.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'supersede'. As mentioned a little earlier they are new technology. So far only the SOTA Q7 MK2 has the new driver technology, along with the recent limited edition M Project. I would expect Magico to update at least the Q5 now that both it and the S7 are similar priced. Since the S7 is higher priced than the Q3, I would not be surprised to see the Q3 dropped rather than upgraded. It wouldn't make much sense to have two speakers at, or near, the same price point.

I mean that the S series were built to a price point whereas the Q series were not. So, my question is whether the S7's new woofer or drivers in general are better than those on the Q series that are current right now.

I would guess that the S7 has better drivers than the current Q3 and Q5. The drivers made their debut in the limited (100 pair) 10th anniversary M Project speakers released not too long ago. The diamond coated tweeter is supposed to be awesome, as is the mid-range. Magico then updated the Q7 with the new drivers, along with a baffle change, and cross-over upgrade, raised the price $40k to $230,000, and called it the MK2. Then they just released the S7 with the new drivers, so I think it is a reasonable assumption the new drivers are better. Of course, this is just an assumption, and I am sure current Q owners will argue otherwise. :)

Prove him wrong Joey. Go for it. However, since the Q7s weigh 800 pounds each, they might not be a good idea for the second floor.
