Hi. I have some tsi400's floor speakers. I was wondering if they have a protective circuit? do they shut off if they are being pounded to hard? thx.

Does a cs10 center speaker have the same protection?

Kinda depends on what you're driving them with. If you're blasting a low powered AVR to 11 you'll likely fry the tweeters

You can clip that Sony with the 400s if you go too loud, as Ken says above. And you WILL fry the tweeters first! So be careful. Let your SUB handle more low end to relieve the Sony from having to run the 400s close to full range. That Sony does not weigh much over 20 lbs. And since it's not a class D but an A/B amp it probably puts out 30-40 or so real watts per channel in the surround mode-so not a lot of power there.

Some receivers will shut themselves off if you attempt to drive them too hard! If you've experienced this shutting down, it's either the receiver going into some kind of protect mode or your speakers blew!
