Spiking the 1c's

Ive asked this in other threads & i had some recommendations. Here is the thing. Im not good with looking up parts & i tried & hesitate because i didnt want to mess up & order wrong thing.. If possible could someone put the site copy/paste so i can get the right spikes for the 1c's. Not sure how much they are & i have no budget holding me back on these as i want good ones. I have a carpet floor now & that may change.... Couple quick questions. Do they need to be drilled/threaded to the bottoms. I see there is 4 little thingys on bottoms. Is that where they go?

I got a set here http://www.oregondv.com/spikes.htm good quality stuff. Not sure what the 4little thingys are on the bottoms but the spikes come with an insert that self threads into the bottom.

Thanks. I took a peek & i see a bunch & thats what confuses me to where im not sure which one is best for SDA1c's. I see there was one it looks like you put insert in wood then screw spike in after. What is the size/lenghth i should be looking at ?

Before you buy anything. Measure your ear height at your listening position. Then measure the height of the top tweeter, report back.

Bottom tweeter is down 2 inches from ear level.

It seems though the tweeters are positioned pretty good & if raised a tad bit it would work. Not sure id want to go to high

You didn't really provide the info I was asking, so I looked up the speaker height, which is 44" and I'm guessing the center of the top tweeter is 6" lower putting it at 38". If so, that puts it in the right range of 38" to 40" meaning you could use a 1" to 2" tall spike.

The glides on the bottom are nailed on, pry them off. Measure in 1" from the front and side at the corners, that's where you want to drill the hole for the threaded insert. Do NOT drill through the cabinet.

The 1.5" tall spike in the link above will work. Parts Express sells the same spikes.

Thank you. Sorry about that. I will look into what one i can use & thanks for explaining where to drill. I will make sure i dont go in to deep. I will put a piece of tape on bit & drill with ease. I will install one before doing all of them to make sure all is good. Thanks again

Also make sure your spikes are long enough to go through your carpet and padding so as the bottom of the speaker is not sitting on the carpet. The spikes need to hit the sub-floor to do this right.

Is it just the flash or are those custom top and bottom wood caps? They look nice!

i have often wondered how they would look with wood sides. I remember a few years back someone here did some custom work on theirs & they looked pretty good iirc correctly

Yep, that's the first thing one will notice.

They never look right with wood sides.

Well i spiked the RTA15's earlier today. I put them sideways-drilled-hammered the thingy in with Epoxy-let them set for 2 hours-installed spikes. Set them back in place. Listened to Shooting Star cd :) will listen more later fd7f0wptv68y.jpg

Just measured 8 inches from rear wall--16 from side wall. Each speaker. To get best in this room i pull them out around 12 inches from rear

The reflected sound waves are also out of phase with the front passive
