I was considering a KW500 but the seller just would not let it go for a fair price. He didn't really want to get rid of it and I was not going to pay his asking price.

From the research I did that is one h e l l of a integrated.

Price seems to be slightly high but is about $500 less than the one I was working on.

    DON'T DO IT... o:)

Ok, now that I tried to talk you out of it, I was impressed with my recent exposure to
Musical Fidelity gear. The build quality was exceptional, and the sound was impressive. No doubt that you are talking about end-game type equipment here.

That's not just any integrated, it's a super integrated and reference level kit. Price might be a tad high, but $2500.00 seems too low.

I had it before. Except for the power, there is not much to like about it. 2500 is the fair price for its performance for used market, imo

I've got one and there's everything to like about it. It has stellar reviews and everyone that's heard my rig was impressed. You are the first that I've seen that didn't care for it. Oh well.

kevhed72, I will say that it requires a dedicated line, minimum 12 gauge/20 amp, but even then it is held back. A 10 gauge/30 amp line really let's it shine. Perhaps brianle wasn't giving it what it needs. On a 14 gauge/15 amp line it will not perform well.

I think at 3500, you will not beat the KW500.

My brother has a mini version of that and I have heard it many times. I have been impressed with MF gear. I would say, get it. I have been looking at that integrated many times.

You definitely want to upgrade the stock IEC 20 power cord to a better cord, and run it on a dedicated circuit. Assuming you want to get the best performance from it. Don't skimp on the interconnects or speaker cables either.

It's a fantastic integrated as F1nut also said. My concern for you though is overkill. On LSIM's, a relatively easy speaker to drive, that amp won't get out of first gear.....so to speak.

The MF 308, though older, may be a better match, and cheaper, but no slouch in the SQ department either. If you don't like it you could always resell and lose next to nothing. Give you a feel for that MF sound for not alot of coin. If your going to go for monster power, give it something to do by presenting it with a load. Unison may also be a good match for those LSIM's. Lots to choose from, but if your staying with easy to drive speakers your wasting your coin that could be doing good things elsewhere in your system.

This hobby is funny. Last night I was listening to Jazz Classics on public radio via an OTA Yamaha T1 tuner (with an old Radio Shack signal booster) though my Music Hall integrated and 703s. I was floored by how good it sounded....and I think the majority of the music on Jazz Classics is spun from vinyl. Just some observations from last nights listening session.

Jazz on vinyl is a treat!

Anyway, that KW500 looks like a brute of an integrated. Here is another brute as well, a Pass Labs INT-30A

So, many nice ones out there. Really thinking in that direction myself when I finally do jump. The Halo is on the must listen to list.

The agon listing price makes it come in at more than a krell 550. I would offer him 1k less than his asking.

It's more musical than the Krell and has almost twice the power. The MF also cost a lot more than the Krell when it was new, which would be even more money today.
