Anybody ever tried using the R30s as surrounds?

Circuit City just put the R30s on sale for $199. I was thinking of putting them as surrounds and then moving my R20s to my bedroom. Has anyone on here used the R30s as surrounds? If so, is it a waste of a tower or did it pay off?
Main system:

Fronts: Infinity Alpha 50
Center: Infinity Alpha 37c
Surrounds: Infinity Alpha 20
Receiver: Onkyo TS-XR607
Subwoofer: Pioneer S-DW1-K
Cable- Monster Cable XP

Bedroom Setup:

fronts- Polk R50
surrounds- Polk R30
center- CS1
sub- Sony 50 watt
AVR- Onkyo TSXR502
Cable- Monster Cable XP

I don't see why it wouldn't work, assuming you have the room for it. Bigger surrounds are desirable for the same reasons as bigger speakers elsewhere: Wider response, higher dynamic capability, etc. Especially if you're using or considering a multichannel audio format like DVD-A or SACD, but even with movies, with the type of material they're mixing into the surround channels these days.

I wouldn't worry about "wasting" a tower much. The main concern should be placement. I wouldn't compromise the surround location and placement just to use a bigger speaker. But if it will work in your room then go for it.

While I don't have the 50/30 setup, I do have RTi70s (main) and RTi100s (rear), and I really like the sound especially for DVD-A and SACD. It is alo killer for HT.
