Which SDA's are these??

I've finally gotten the Polks of my dreams, but I don't even know what the correct name for them is!
They are a bit rough, but they work and I got them for $400 at an estate auction.
But anyway,I need to know what they are as I plan to mod them and whatever else.
Thanks! xura3f9s1245.jpg

    Thanks John!
I have some big amps to hook into these but first I need to make room for them as they are competing for space with 7 other pairs of speakers..which includes Polk 10B's and 7B's!

Any time... I do not think you can biamp the first generation SRS, as it is not compatible with the dreadnaught or the AI-1

These have 4 speaker terminals on each speaker...but I prefer not to bi-amp anyway.I kinda like to keep things simple these days!

just make certain any amp you use is of the "common ground" variety... and again, congrats on the score.

You can biamp them, no AI-1 interconnect needed.

If it turns out you have 1.2's (1.2's have a pin/blade IC, original srs does not), they can be bridged with the AI-1 interconnect. More importantly if they are 1.2's, they can be upgraded to 1.2 TL's!

    The interconnect is a blade/blade.
    Does this make them TL's?

No, they are not TL's. They are SDA SRS's.

I'm sorry to say, but that's unfortunate as they are too big for your room. They need a lot of space to breath and it appears there isn't much open space anyway, which will seriously mess with the way SDA's work. You can try them on the 15 foot wall, which is the minimum, but you won't get what they are capable of.

You'd have been better off with one of the smaller models such as the CRS, 2A or 2B, but even then all that stuff in the room will seriously mess with the way SDA's work.

Nice find. I got mine in back in 2012, mostly by accident. In fact, I knew nothing about them when I bought them. "Still learning" on them.

I'm sure you know more about audio than me, just wait until everyone chimes in with the knowledge here...It's priceless.

    Have fun...

I am looking forward to pulling the crossovers and discovering what magic awaits in there.
I managed to get them out of the middle of the room but will have to wrestle things around to get them in the best position possible..given the limitations.
And of course the pictures will need to be moved or removed to make the best aesthetics.
    Then I have 3 or 4 amps to consider,ranging in output from 200 - 450 watts.

I will be sitting about 10 feet away from these speakers. As for all the other speakers I have set up,my listening position is rarely optimal..my stereo's have always exceeded my floor space...

The stereo gear and speakers taking over space in some of our homes and man-caves seems to still be a curse to some of us. I managed to sell a lot of my excess and then build an addition to achieve the space in my profile picture for awhile. Then I found more speakers and more gear and an awesome Morris chair at a church bazarr I just couldn't pass-up for 8.00. Now my room looks like yours again for now. Better to have to much than to little.

I have the SDA-SRS2's and these speakers with my Carver amp in my spacious 18x21 with 10' tall walls and open vaulted ceilings kick but and sound just right when there was open space. Everybody is right that these behemoths need space to get the good kind of goosebumps that the SDA speakers can magically provide when the right material is played. ENJOY the big boys now. I too, have a huge POLK speaker collection , but the SDA-SRS's are the best sounding for critical listening sessions.

I just listed 8 pairs of speakers on craigslist and am in the process of selling a lot of gear on eBay.Anything I bring in from now on will be the best stuff;I don't need to rescue these poor receivers and things any more!

In my financial state I don't see my floor space growing any,but I do love walking in and seeing these massive speakers. As they sit I can't say they sound "awesome",but good enough to keep around.

Perhaps I'll find a woman who has a large house - I'll have the perfect speakers to play her favorite music..then when she goes to work it's Hendrix!!

Good for you on trying to down-size a lot.

But in my own down-sizing, I sold some special speakers and gear I wish I had kept. I sold a lot really cheap and only received a tip twice.
PLEASE , recheck what your letting go and the remote chance you'll miss them more than the money and space that was exchanged for them. Special speakers and gear is getting harder and harder to come by affordably.

    Hey Tony
Yes,letting go of what won't kill me later is the thing that's been holding me up.I think I've made the right cuts.

What I'll be left with are Klipsch Quartets,Polk 10B's and these SRS's.

The hard part really is the receivers..

Also it's hard to get any money for speakers unless they're listed on eBay and often if shipping is offered.
Seems the only people who buy stereo equipment on CL are flippers, which is why speakers can sit for so long on there as few people want to pack them.
