Proud papa(bear)!

I wasn't sure if I would share this or not, but now it's official, my oldest daughter will be the salutatorian for her HS graduating class in June of this year!! Which is impossible, because, well, we just brought her home from the hospital two days after she was born. Right? My how the time does go by...

She is a wonderfully well-rounded teenager, with the usual (but very minor) assortment of issues/problems/hangups, but at the end of the day she was able to keep herself focused and made this happen. Her last two years have been a steady diet of AP level courses, with challenges that made me shake my head in awe most days, but her final average ended up being 108-point-something. We think she's made her choice for what college she'd like to attend, but will likely visit several campuses in the coming weeks.

I hope I can hold it together for her graduation speech... *nervous laugh here*
So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

Great job for her parents and herself.

Sounds like you have done a great job getting her ready for life.

Poignant quote about how it seemed you just brought her home from the hospital,I guess the old folks weren't kidding back when we were kids about life galloping by.

Give her congrats from your friends at cp.

Kudos to you as parents, as well. It takes just as much work and dedication from the parents, as from the child, to do that well in school.

Any idea what she wants to study? "what do u wanna be when u grow up?"

She's concentrating on the "ics" - Linguistics as a major, physics as a minor

She has an affinity for languages, in addition to english she's practically fluent in Latin
and has taught herself a good deal of Japanese! (yeah, me either). I think she'd like to be a speech pathologist, or an ESL teacher, or a translator? I suppose that will be more firmly decided once she has some college time in.

Thanks to all for the good thoughts and comments.
