The way to remake a SDA

According to the diagram Polk has provided.....
remaking a sda should be simple.....right?
Buy 4 pairs of RTi8!
take 2 pairs, put 2 side by side, and stack 2 accordingly!
Wire the inside stacked pair to the left or right chanel, whatever side they lay on!
The other side, wire the bottum posts (woofers) to the R&L channels, and leave the tweeters playing the right signal.
Do exactly the same on the opposite side. Spread the outside speaker apart till sounds right and you have home-made SDA!
Have a great day!
I wonder if you could do that with Bose speakers?

No no no. Not that easy at all. First of all you have many drivers of different polarity in the same cabinent with a PR. YOU try to figure out the volume needed!!! These guys had to be smoking some good stuff to make these calculations! Imagine the amout of throw away test cabinents they probably made. Imagine all the listening time it took to determine what was the "correct" sound. Imagine finding a way to put 13 drivers in one box without the thing costing $10K. Imagine coming up with a box which could protect the 180 pound monstrosities in shipping. Imagine trying to get a whole line that sounded the same. Imagine trying to find a way to connect the SDA sections of the xover together (the sda cable). Imagine trying to explain the thought process behind sda. etc...

EDIT: Imagine designing speakers which would last for close to 20 years... (until exposed to MX of course)Vinyl, the final frontier...

MUAHAHAHAHHAHHAHHAHAA!
I WILL HAVE ME A PAIR!
I really like these things, I never heard a speaker that takes its soundstage, and makes the room itself.
I must have a pair. Depending on my christmas money I get and how much money i have earned for car etc, I will go for the 2 or the 1, I want atleast 3 or 4 midbasses
But I made that as a joke post- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
Go for the 1C's or better. The difference is efficiency and power handling. For example, the 1.2's will play much louder than the 1C's. Also, the CRS+ will not play as loud as the 1C's. You will notice the efficiency is only a little higher with the 1.2's as compared to the CRS+ but remember that efficiency is measured at 1 watt. Since the larger speakers have a higher wattage capability the actual sound output goes WAY up.

All depends on funds, these speakers wont be played hard. Just for casual listening at my Dad's...
Will be powered with a 30 year old JVC integrated- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
I offered that dude with the beat up pair of SDA 1C or whatever 50 bucks + shipping from CA...
Them things that looked like they were dropped from a 20 story building, missing 1 tweeter. As long as them drivers all functioned properly it would be fine, I have no problems pulling out the sander
The dude replied back with the funniest response, I never expected it
He didnt say anthing except 'no', so little thought process. Skipped right to the point, I found that funny.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
He is keeping you away from the 1.2TL? Good man!Vinyl, the final frontier...

Nah, I actually listen a good 10 or so db lower than my Dad. His speakers are in no harm with me behind the controls. The 1.2 plays plenty loud enough for me.
Today, we re-routed the 1.2TL where it was plugged directly into the amp, and not into the M&K in anyway. This did amazing things for the 1.2's top end.
We routed the M&K to the Yamaha A outputs in preperation for the SVS that didnt arrive, but should on Monday...
This just did wonders man, still not as clear as the X-1, but for a 19 grand difference, I'd just buy 10 more 1.2s!
I told my Dad if he ever decides to part with them, I call dibs. lol. I dont care when he does, i call dibs! Woo! lol!
The 1.2 is simply amazing, in soundstage, instruments, everything. My Dad threw in this old CD with piano, violin, chimes, guitar, drums, the works. I swear, have you ever heard a speaker and you were just.....floored. I was floored right then and there, and I dont remember me being close to that with the X-1. The piano was vibrant and huge and totally seperated. It was right there infront of the front door, and there was another piano playing at the same time on the opposite side of the room. The guitar was slightly infront of the right A/V rack, the chimes a tad to the rigth of that kinda behind, the vocals were centered perfectly, and the singer sounded huge, the drums were behind the singer in their bedroom, and the bass guitar in the left a/v rack. It was just like stationary instruments man. Simply amazing stuff, I must have a pair of SDAs...any of them.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.
