SDA SRS 2.3 and amp hook to Denon AVR-E300?

Here is my situation... My mother-in-law just gave me a set of Polk Audio SDA SRS 2.3 in mint condition. She also gave me an Acurus A250 amp and Adcom GFP-555 preamp and a 5 disc changer. Right now I have it all hooked up and it sounds really good. Other than this I have a Denon AVR-E300 and surround system in the same room. My question to you is can I use the SDA SRS 2.3 towers with the Acurus A250 amp as my front left and right on my surround system hooked to my Denon? If I was to do that I would have to use a cable that was "speaker" cable on one end to hook to Denon receiver and one male rca on the other end. One for the left side and one for the right side because the amp only has one input plug for left and one for right. If anybody can put me in the right direction with this it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If your Denon AVR does not have pre outs, you cannot connect an amp to it.Political Correctness'.........defined

So there is no way to just hook the speaker outs up to the amp with an adapter cable or anything? I saw some cables that were speaker wire on one end and RCA male on the other end. That wouldn't put the signal thru as it should? Thank you very much for replying. I'm trying to learn this stuff but its a little overwhelming to me...

I really just want to see how the SDA SRS 2.3 will sound as my front left and right and I know they have to have the amp to sound good. I just don't know how to get it done without getting a dedicated audio receiver...

The only Preout I have is for the subwoofer in the 5.1 system. Is there any way to use it?

I'm curious if you could get away with using the headphone jack to RCA's, for "just seeing how it sounds" but it'd really be less than ideal and honestly unless someone else chimes in don't do it. I'm just thinking out loud.
Just know that they are awesome speakers and they're worth buying a piece of equipment that can get the job done properly.

Right now I'm using the 3,5mm headphone jack to RCA's to my Adcom preamp. I have my laptop hooked to it so I can listen to my music. That is also one reason why I want to get it hooked to the Denon.

I'm sure F1 or somebody that will know for sure will hop back in here at some point but you might be able to bypass the preamp and send that 3.5 to RCA's straight to the amp. Turn the volume on the laptop all the way down before turning anything on and go real slow when turning it up.
Again, don't do this until somebody more knowledgeable says it's okay.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

Wait. Why are you using a preamp and the Denon instead of the preamp and the amp?afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

Right now I'm using the preamp with the amp and SDA's to listen to music but I wanted to try to get the amp and SDA's integrated into my surround system as my front left and right channels.

Oh, I understand now. No, without preouts on the Denon this isn't going to work. If it were me, I'd forget about the rest of the surround sound for now while saving up for an AVR with preouts and stick with the Adcom and Acurus.
Pioneer SC, Marantz, and Yamaha Aventage would be my list.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

At this point with your current gear, putting the SDAs into your system would be less than optimal for a couple reasons. The Denon doesn't put out enough power to run the SDAs in full range mode that they deserve and running them as your front speakers with their settings set on small with the sub bass going to a subwoofer instead of to the fronts defeats the intended full range sound of the SDAs.
I have an AVR-300E in my living room setup and while it does an adequate job in surround duty, it can not deliver the crazy power ratings that they claim, my guess would be that it pushes 40 watts per channel before it starts to struggle at its best.
Make sure that you appreciate your mother-in-law for thinking of you when she needed somewhere for those nice pieces to go. That Acurus is a great amp for those SDAs once you get a good surround preamp. If you like the Denon's features look into their higher level offerings that have the needed outputs, as Denon does make nicely featured surround gear.HT Optoma HD25 LV on 80" DIY Screen, Anthem MRX 300 Receiver, Pioneer Elite BDP 51FD Polk CS350LS, Polk SDA1C, Polk FX300, Polk RT55, Dual EBS Adire Shiva 320watt tuned to 17hz, ICs-DIY Twisted Prs, Speaker-Raymond Cable

If I get a receiver with preamps and run the Acurus and SDA's as my fronts on a 5.1 system do you think it will even sound good? Or should I just use them as 2 channel music system?

If you want to incorporate the SDA's into your HT, you need a receiver with preouts to hook the amp to. So basically....you need a new receiver.HT SYSTEM-
