SDA SRS problem.

I have a pair that I have not used for about 10 years. Hooked them up and the left plays a lot softer and seems to be missing a lot of bass and midrange. All the drivers test ok with an ohmmeter. The crossovers look ok with no visible defects. Could bad capacitors cause a drop off in the bass?

Yes. I pulled all of them and disconnected them and then tested them.

I also switched the amp inputs, then the outputs and cables. It is not a problem with the amp or source or cables.

I checked the inside 4 speakers on both the left and right and they are correct. Checked cone movement with the ohmmeter . The wiring agrees with the wiring diagram i found on this site. I will next check the outside speakers for correct phasing.

Make sure the cabinet is airtight. If it's not you'll lose the bass...

Check that the jumpers are screwed down tight and check them for oxidation as well as all other connections. If all that checks out ok, swap crossovers, which will involve soldering.Political Correctness'.........defined

Thanks for all the help. I swapped the crossovers and and that is the problem. I guess I will re cap both crossovers.
